Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Detroit Pistons vs Los Angeles Clippers
The Los Angeles Clippers are set to return home to the Staples Center after playing on the road in their latest outing and they will host the Detroit Pistons in a cross-confernece clash, the opening tipoff is slated for 3:30 PM. Los Angeles has enjoyed a good year during the early portion of the season as they currently sit 5th in the Western Conference while Detroit has been as bad as anyone in the NBA as they have lost 8 of their last 10 games.
Detroit Pistons's Latest Performance :
The Detroit Pistons may be the most disappointing team in the NBA to this point as they currently find themselves on a 4 game losing streak despite them having two all-stars in their frontcourt. The Pistons have not started off their West Coast road trip as expected as they have dropped the 1st two games with their latest coming against the Sacramento Kings 112-102. The Pistons top scorer in Blake Griffin did not play against the Kings (Rest) which is already a big loss as the former Oklahoma Sooner averages 25.1 PPG and 8.3 RPG. Andre Drummond was able to record a double-double for the Pistons as he dropped 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds but these are numbers just shy of his season average of 16.7 PPG and 14.9 RPG. The Pistons need more production out of their guards and Reggie Bullock has stepped up as of recent. Bullock was able to have a solid outing against the Kings with 15 points and 6 assists, Bullock is a sharpshooter as he averages about 40% from 3 but he is only averaging 12 PPG. The bench has been a big downfall for Dwane Casey and company all season long but they had a fairly solid outing against the Kings with a combined 49 points. Stanley Johnson led the team in scoring as he was able to record 16 points off the bench while Jon Leuer fell just short of a double-double with 9 points and 11 rebounds.
Los Angeles Clippers's Latest Performance :
The Los Angeles Clippers had a lot of turnover from their previous rosters and even though they don’t have the star power they once had they are still one of the better teams in the tough Western Conference. The Clippers enter this matchup fresh off a loss on the road against the best team in the conference in the Denver Nuggets. The Clippers didn’t have a guy who cracked the 20-point mark but they were able to show their scoring depth as 4 different Clippers scored at least 15 points. Lou Williams is arguably the best bench player in NBA history and he delivered with 19 points and 5 assists against the Nuggets. Williams has not started a game all season but he still sits 3rd on the team in scoring as the 32-year-old averages 18.5 PPG. Joining Williams off the bench is the former Baylor Bear Montrezl Harrell and he as able to pitch together a nice game himself as he recorded 16 points and 6 rebounds. Tobias Harris was the piece that the Clippers received back in the Blake Griffin trade and he has easily been the best player for Doc Rivers and company. Harris was able to deliver a double-double against the Nuggets with 18 points and 11 rebounds which is indicative of his season as he averages a team-high 21 PPG and 8 RPG. Outside of Williams, the guard play has been the weak link for the Clippers as they currently have no one in the starting backcourt who averages more than 10 PPG.

Against The Spread Selection: Los Angeles Clippers*
My reason for the pick :
This is a coming home party for Blake Griffin who should play inspired against the former team that betrayed him but he can’t win this game alone as the Clippers just have too much depth. Tobias Harris comes into this game in the same situation as Griffin and given his recent efforts Harris is playing himself into the all-star game. The Clippers may not have guards who are scoring but either are the Pistons and I like the backcourt of Los Angeles a little better. The Clippers are one of the top scoring teams in the NBA as they rank 4th while Detroit is having trouble putting the basketball through the hoop. If your book offers prop bets take the over on whatever Blake Griffin’s total is but slam the Clippers at home as they are one of the top ATS teams in the NBA.
