Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Milwaukee Bucks vs Atlanta Hawks
The Atlanta Hawks are set to return home to the State Farm Arena after playing 3 consecutive games on the road and they will take on the Milwaukee Bucks in an Eastern Confernece matchup, the opening tipoff is slated for 3:30 PM. The Atlanta Hawks are in the middle of rebuilding this franchise which has them at the bottom of the conference while Milwaukee fields their best team yet and look like a favorite to win the East.
Milwaukee Bucks's Latest Performance :
The Milwaukee Bucks are arguably the best team in the Eastern Conference but we saw how dependent they are on their MVP candidate in Giannis Antetokounmpo as they dropped their recent game against the Washington Wizards 113-106. Giannis elected to sit out against the Wizards as he was dealing with a quad problem which was a big hit to the Bucks as he averages 26.6 PPG and 12.8 RPG. The Bucks did a solid job of getting production out of their starting lineup as every single starter at least 10+ points but it wasn’t enough. Khris Middleton was able to take over as the go-to scorer as he recorded 25 points and 8 rebounds, Middleton has been the 2nd scorer for the Bucks all season as he averages 17.8 PPG. PG Eric Bledsoe was able to show his playmaking abilities in this game as the 29-year-old flirted with a triple-double with 18 points, 9 assists, and 8 rebounds. Bledsoe has been overshadowed by 2nd year PG Malcolm Brogdon but he has still put together a good season as he averages 15.1 PPG and 5.6 APG. Brogdon has been just as good as a playmaker as Bledsoe as the former Wisconsin Badger is averaging 15.7 PPG and 3.5 APG, Brogdon had a solid outing against the Wizards with 15 points and 8 assists. Sterling Brown was the top bench player for Milwaukee as he was able to record 10 points and 7 rebounds which are both well above his season average of 5.3 PPG and 3 RPG.
Atlanta Hawks's Latest Performance :
The Atlanta Hawks may still be years away from making any noise in the Eastern Conference but the young guys got a nice boost after beating a good Philadelphia 76ers team on the road 123-121. Rookie sharpshooter Kevin Huerter had the best game of his young career as he recorded 29 points in the win. Huerter was drafted for his shooting abilities but he has not yet matched the expected numbers as he is only averaging 8.8 PPG. 2nd year pro John Collins was a major contributor down low for the Hawks as he was able to take advantage of Joel Embiid sitting out. Collins fell just short of a double-double in this outing as he recorded 25 points and 9 rebounds, Collins has put together a fairly good season as he is averaging a double-double with 19.1 PPG and 10.5 RPG. Joining Collins in the frontcourt is Dewayne Dedmon and he had a solid all-around game for the Hawks as he had 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists, Dedmon averages 9.8 PPG and 7.6 RPG. The main building block for this team is rookie Trae Young and he has done a good job in his first season as he is averaging 15.6 PPG and 7.2 APG, Young was able to record 18 points against the Sixers. The bench is thin and full of expiring contract acquired in trades and it showed against the 76ers as they only 18 total points which came from Alex Len and Jeremy Lin.

Against The Spread Selection: Milwaukee Bucks*
My reason for the pick :
Giannis is still considered day-to-day for this matchup as they have yet to determine the extent of his injury but I still like the Bucks in this one regardless if he plays or not. Milwaukee has a solid starting 5 that showed they all can produce against the Wizards and while the Hawks were able to shock the NBA a few nights ago, I wouldn’t buy into it too much. A major mismatch in this game is the fact that the Bucks rank 2nd in the NBA in scoring while Atlanta is the worst scoring defense in the NBA. Milwaukee should be able to get what they want and I expect them to go up big and early which will suck the life out of this young team ride with the Bucks.
