Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Philadelphia 76ers vs New York Knicks
The New York Knicks are set to return back to Madison Square Garden for their 2nd consecutive home game where they will take on the Philadelphia 76ers in an Eastern Conference clash, the opening tipoff is slated for 1:00 PM. New York is without their top player which has shown during the 1st half of the season as they have gone 1-9 in their last 10 games while Philadelphia is one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference as they sit 4th in the standings.
Philadelphia 76ers's Latest Performance :
The Philadelphia 76ers may have one of the best starting lineups in the Eastern Conference but they are still a young team which has shown during the 1st part of the season as they have dropped games to easy opponents like their recent game against the Hawks. Philadelphia had the chance to tie the game during the final possession of the game as Jimmy Butler was sent to the free throw line but he missed both his attempts. Despite these two misses, Butler had a great game for Philly as he was able to record a team-high 30 points. Jimmy Butler has been a solid addition for the 76ers as he averages 18.8 PPG and 1.9 SPG but his character has been the center of attention. Philadelphia was without their top player in Joel Embiid as he was held out of this contest which is a major hit as the former Kansas center averages 26.9 PPG and 13.5 RPG but he is considered day-to-day with an ankle injury and he should be go to go in this one. 2nd year pro Ben Simmons had a monster outing as he was able to record a triple-double with 23 points, 15 assists, and 13 rebounds which has been representative of his season as the former ROY averages 16.5 PPG, 9.1 RPG, and 8.1 APG. Backup PG T.J. McConnell had a nice game off the bench for Philadelphia as he was able to record 16 points and 6 assists which are both well above his season average of 6.6 PPG and 3.6 APG.
New York Knicks's Latest Performance :
The New York Knicks have been the laughing stock of the Eastern Conference over the last few years as they have been towards the bottom of the conference and not much has changed this year as they have lost 9 of their last 10 games. The Knicks enter this game fresh off a loss at home against the Indiana Pacers 121-106. The Knicks lack the star power they should have in one of the biggest markets in sports which showed against the Pacers as they had 7 different guys score 10+ points but not one guy who took over when needed. Emmanuel Mudiay was a 1st round pick for the Denver Nuggets but he has been unable to live up to those expectations in the early going of his career but he has been a nice addition for the Knicks. Mudiay had the biggest game out of any Knick as he recorded 21 points which was a team-high, Mudiay averages 14.3 PPG. The Knicks have been happy with the production out of their rookie Kevin Knox and he was able to pitch in 14 points against the Pacers which is slightly above his season average of 12.1 PPG. SG Tim Hardaway Jr. is the season top scorer as he averages 19.8 PPG but he was unable to reach that mark against the Pacers as he was only able to drop 12 points. The bench gave New York some solid minutes as Damyean Dotson, Mario Hezonja, and Trey Burke combined for 37 points.

Against The Spread Selection: Philadelphia 76ers*
My reason for the pick :
Sure Philadelphia lost to a bad team in their latest outing but I can’t bet against them in this one as all the trends point to the Sixers in this game. You may argue that the loss of Embiid is huge for this team but the tandem of Simmons and Butler is still better than the Knicks lineup. New York has gotten some good outings from their starters yet they have been on the end of some blowouts during the recent weeks. New York doesn’t really have anyone to matchup with Simmons and Butler will continue to dominate on both ends of the court. Expect the 6th ranked scoring offense to have their way against the 27th ranked scoring defense. Philly wins big on the road.
