Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Cleveland Cavaliers vs Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics are set to return to TD Garden for their 2nd consecutive home game where they will welcome in the Cleveland Cavaliers in an Eastern Conference clash, the opening tipoff is slated for 7:30 PM. Boston has been playing as good as anyone in the conference as they have used a 4 game win streak to solidify their spot in the top portion of the standings while Cleveland has lost 9 of their last 10 games and look ready to continue their full-on rebuild.
Cleveland Cavaliers's Latest Performance :
The Cleveland Cavaliers lost arguably the best basketball player in the world this past offseason which has prompted this organization to throw any stars out the window and start a full-on rebuild which has led to some unfavorable results this season. The Cavaliers are looking to break a 4-game losing streak after they lost at home against the Chicago Bulls in their latest outing 104-88. The Cavaliers have allowed rookie PG Collin Sexton to run the offense as if he was a veteran and he has been the one bright spot for this team. Sexton was able to have the biggest scoring outing out of any Cavalier in their latest game as he recorded 18 points, Sexton is currently averaging 14.5 PPG. Ante Zizic moved into the starting lineup for only his 5th start of the year but he showed potential to be apart of the Cavaliers moving forward as he fell just shy of a double-double with 13 points and 9 rebounds which is well above his season average of 6.1 PPG and 4.3 RPG. The Cavaliers play up to 11 guys a game and we saw some bench pieces have solid games as Jordan Clarkson recorded 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists while Cameron Payne recorded 11 points and 4 rebounds. Although Clarkson comes off the bench for Cleveland he is still the leading scorer on the season as the 4th year pro is averaging 16.8 PPG. The Cavaliers have been ridiculed by injuries this season especially in the frontcourt as Kevin Love, Tristan Thompson, and Larry Nance are all out of the lineup.
Boston Celtics's Latest Performance :
The Boston Celtics look as good as we thought they were coming into the season as they have won 7 of their last 10 games with their most recent win coming at home against the Miami Heat 107-99. PG Kyrie Irving has been playing lights out for the Celtics as of recent as the former Duke Blue Devil is averaging 23.5 PPG and 6.9 APG. Irving was able to make a big impact against the Heat as the 7th year pro was able to record a double-double with 26 points and 10 assists. Al Horford has been a major reason why the Celtics have been playing well as of recent and his outing against the Heat was another example of that as he contributed 16 points and 12 rebounds, Horford enters this game averaging 12.2 PPG and 6.4 RPG. 2nd-year pro Jayson Tatum has continued to grow as a player and he was able to record the most points out of anyone in the frontcourt as he had 19 points and 6 rebounds, Tatum is the 2nd leading scorer for the Celtics as he enters this game averaging 16.4 PPG and 6.3 RPG. The bench has been a strong suit for the Celtics this season as they are able to give 4 to 5 guys 15+ minutes as a reserve and they showed their abilities against the Heat with 23 total bench points. SF Gordon Hayward has accepted his role as a bench player for the Celtics and was able to have a solid outing in their latest game with 7 points which is slightly below his season average of 10.9 PPG.

My reason for the pick :
The Cleveland Cavaliers have been on the receiving end of some blowouts as of recent which has prompted oddsmakers to make them 10+ point underdogs in 9 of their last 10 games. I am backing the Boston Celtics in this matchup as Kyrie Irving has been playing lights out as of recent and this is a revenge game for him against his former team, so expect effort x10. Boston has one of the best bench units in the NBA as they have the luxury of bringing all-star Gordon Hayward off the bench with pieces like Jaylen Brown and Terry Rozier who can very well start on most the other NBA teams. Boston also has one of the best defenses in the association and they will be a major mismatch for an offense that ranks in the bottom 3 of the NBA. Boston has also been very good ATS at home and I will back them in this spot.
