Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Toronto Raptors vs Indiana Pacers
The Indiana Pacers are set to return home to Bankers Life Fieldhouse for their 5th consecutive home game where they will play host to the Toronto Raptors in an Eastern Conference clash, the opening tipoff is slated for 7:00 PM. Toronto has played well as of recent as they have won 8 of their last 10 games which puts them .5 games out of 1st place while Indiana has held their own as they will be looking to extend their win streak to 3 games and closing the gap between them and the Raptors.
Toronto Raptors's Latest Performance :
The Toronto Raptors were always one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference but like every other team in the NBA they struggled to beat LeBron James and the Cavaliers, but with LeBron in the Western Conference we have seen the Raptors climb to the top of the conference as they now sit .5 games out of 1st place. The Raptors come into this game on a 3-game win streak after they were able to beat the Sacramento Kings at home in their latest game 120-105. The Raptors played without Kawahi Leonard and will still be without him in this game which is a big blow considering he is averaging 27.6 PPG and 7.9 RPG. The Raptors turned to a team effort in their win over Sacramento as they had 5 different guys score at least 15 points. PG Kyle Lowry had been the face of this organization ever since he was drafted and reasonably so as he is averaging 14.1 PPG and 9.4 APG, Lowry stepped up in their latest outing with 19 points and 9 assists. Fred VanVleet stepped into the starting lineup in the absence of Leonard and he took advantage of it as he recorded 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists. Serge Ibaka is the 2nd leading scorer for the Raptors as he enters this game averaging 16.2 PPG, and although he wasn’t able to hit that mark in their latest outing he was still able to record a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. The bench has been a part of the Raptors identity over the past few seasons and they played well against Sacramento as they contributed 43 bench points.
Indiana Pacers's Latest Performance :
The Indiana Pacers look like a real threat to win the Eastern Conference in the post LeBron era as they currently sit within the top 3 and have put together a small win streak which has closed the gap between the Pacers, Raptors, and Bucks. In the Pacers latest game, they were able to blow out the Charlotte Hornets at home 120-95. The Pacers received a few monster outings as they had 5 guys score at least 14 points or more, but the leading scorer was once again Victor Oladpio. The 5th year man out of Indiana is having one of his best years yet as he comes into this game averaging a team-high 19.2 PPG while also contributing 5.7 RPG and 5.3 APG, Oladpio recorded 21 points and 7 assists in the win over the Hornets. Joining Oladipo in the backcourt is Darren Collison and while he is only averaging 9.5 PPG he was able to fall just short of a double-double in their latest outing with 19 points and 9 assists, Collison is the leading assist guy on the season as he averages 5.6 APG. Myles Turner was able to make his impact felt down low as the 3rd year pro out of Texas recorded a team-high 16 rebounds with 9 points, Turner is one of the best scoring bigs in the league as he averages 12.8 PPG and 7.3 RPG. The bench was also very efficient in the win over Charlotte as Domantas Sabonis fell just shy of a double-double with 16 points and 8 rebounds while Tyreke Evans pitched in 14 points and 5 assists of his own.

Against The Spread Selection: Indiana Pacers -2.5
My reason for the pick :
Both these teams are playing some of their best basketball as of recent but with Kawhi Leonard sitting out for the Raptors and them traveling for a back-to-back I don’t see how they will go into Indiana and steal a win. Victor Oladipo is playing at a high level right now and with Leonard out, it will be hard for the Raptors to defend him. Indiana also has the top defense in the league and they should keep a tired Raptors in check as the Pacers are well rested as they last played on Sunday. Both benches are strong but Sabonis has been one of the top bench pieces in the NBA and he looks to be on track to win 6th man of the year as he averages 15 PPG and 9.6 RPG. Indiana is also fairly good ATS at home while Toronto is sub-.500 which has me trending to the well-rested Pacers in this game.
