Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Indiana Pacers vs Memphis Grizzlies
The surging Indiana Pacers will visit FedEx forum in Nashville, Tennessee, in which to battle the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday night at 8 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The Pacers continue to find themselves on the heels of the Milwaukee Bucks in the Central division of the Eastern Conference as they have won three straight games, with their last being a victory over the Toronto Raptors at home as Thaddeus Young led the team with 22 points while Darren Collison chipped in 16 points for a Pacers team that lost Victor Oladipo to a knee injury in the contest.
On the other hand, the Memphis Grizzlies continue to drop game after Game as they are losers of 7 straight games as their defense has lost its way recently in allowing opponents to score 118 points per game in their last four outings. Charlotte was able to post 118 points on Memphis in this outing on 53% shooting while so connecting on 12 3-pointers on the night as Kemba Walker finished with 22 points on the night while Tony Parker also chipped in 17 points in the much-needed victory for the Hornets. Memphis, on the other hand, shot 47% from the floor in the game with Mike Conley leading the team with 31 points while Mark Gasol chipped in 22 points in the loss.
Indiana Pacers's Latest Performance :
As stated, the Indiana Pacers have won three straight games and continue to be hot on the heels of the Milwaukee Bucks within the Central division of the Eastern Conference at this point. Nonetheless, the Pacers will have to deal with life without Victor Oladipo for the remainder of the season as he was lost with a knee injury in their last outing versus the Toronto Raptors. Nonetheless, Indiana has relied on a balanced scoring attack throughout the season in which to remain competitive. On the other hand, the Pacers also rely on a tough, solid defense in which to limit offensive opportunities for opponents throughout the course of a game.
And while the Pacers certainly didn’t shoot well versus the Toronto Raptors at 43% for the night, they allowed the Raptors to shoot just 41% from the floor throughout the contest. Also, despite connecting on 12 3-pointers, the Raptors could not shake off a dismal first quarter to where they only posted 16 points, total, as they suffered the loss in the end.
It will be important to mention that Kawhi Leonard did not suit up for this game while Serge Ibaka led the scoring attack with 23 points while Kyle Lowry added 20 points, five rebounds, along with seven assists in the loss for Toronto. Fortunately for Indiana, they have been without Oladipo for 11 games already this season to where they went 7-4 during this time. They will certainly be looking to continue their balanced scoring attack in his absence, beginning with their trip to FedEx forum to face the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday night.
Memphis Grizzlies's Latest Performance :
And while offense for Memphis has struggled throughout the season, they have been able to rely on their defense in which to keep them competitive within games throughout the season as well. Nonetheless, in recent outings, the Grizzlies have found themselves regressing on the defensive end of the floor as they are been very generous to opponents during their current seven-game losing streak, as pointed out.
In their last outing versus the Hornets, Charlotte was red-hot from the floor as Walker was the tip of the spear in leading the offensive charge with 22 points, as pointed out. On the other hand, Tony Parker also provided a huge lift off the bench with 17 points on a night where the Hornets allowed 47% shooting to the Grizzlies in the contest; However, Memphis shot just 29% from three-point range while continuing to struggle with consistency on both sides of the ball.
Nonetheless, the Grizzlies will be looking to bring the focus and intensity for this matchup after a blowout defeat in their last meeting versus the Indiana Pacers on October of 2018. It will also be fair to note that the Grizzlies have lost three of their last four home games while their matchup with the Indiana Pacers will be the second game of a back-to-back, as well.
How Indiana Pacers & Memphis Grizzlies Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Indiana is 25 – 22 ATS whike the OU is 21-26
Memphis is 19 – 29 ATS whike the OU is 19 – 29
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
Look for this to be a very interesting matchup amongst these teams as both possess the ability to lock down opposing offenses on a nightly basis, however, Memphis has struggled recently on both ends of the floor while Indiana, despite possessing one of the more above-average defenses in the league in my opinion, will indeed struggle on the offensive end, yet again, without Oladipo being in the lineup. In all, one should also look for this game to be very competitive throughout in what will be a very low scoring matchup, throughout.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Memphis Grizzlies
My reason for the pick :
Look for a Memphis to finally get back on track in this game as the Indiana Pacers, though playing well without Oladipo in the lineup earlier in the season, will be in shellshock mode as they will have to reacclimate themselves to life without Oladipo, as stated, in the lineup. Nonetheless, the Grizzlies will certainly take advantage of this on Saturday night as they will squeak out a slim victory due to their ability to limit offensive opportunities for the Pacers while also hitting some critical buckets down the stretch as Conley and Gasol have certainly played much better recently.
Totals Selection: Pick: Under
My reason for the prediction :
The Under has been the play in four of the last six games for the Memphis Grizzlies while being the result in the last four games, overall, for the Indiana Pacers. Also, with the loss of production on the offensive end from Oladipo, one can certainly expect there to be a drop off for the Pacers in this contest. On the other hand, Memphis has been inconsistent on the offensive end all year long and will certainly score just enough points in which to pick up the victory in what will be a low-scoring affair throughout.
Betting trends for Indiana Pacers:
- The Pacers are 4-2 against the spread in last 6 games
- The under is 4 – 1 in Pacers last 5 games
Betting trends for Memphis Grizzlies:
- The Grizzlies are 1-6 against the spread in last 7 games
- The under is 4-2 in Grizzlies last six games
