Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Atlanta Hawks vs LA Clippers
The Atlanta Hawks will travel to Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, to face the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday night at 10:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The Hawks could not extend their momentum from picking up a victory over the lowly Chicago Bulls in their last outing as they fell to the Portland Trail Blazers by nine points as Atlanta was able to weather the storm early in this contest while keeping the game tight until some critical baskets were made by the Trailblazers late which ultimately allowed them to pick up the much-needed victory. Nonetheless, Trae Young continued to play well for the Atlanta Hawks as he scored 30 points while going 3-6 from long range while John Collins also performed well in a losing effort in scoring 21 points while pulling down six rebounds.
On the other hand, the Clippers will return home after a four-game road trip to where they won three of four games, in which to faced an Atlanta team that has found itself mostly on the losing side, particularly on the road, where they have lost four of their last five, overall. In all, the over has been the play in five of the last six meetings amongst these two teams while being the result in four the last five meetings in Staples Center. On the other hand, the Hawks are only 1-4 against the spread in the last five meetings with the Clippers.
Atlanta Hawks's Latest Performance :
After an outing to where he scored just five points for the contest, Trae Young certainly atoned for his mistakes in Atlanta’s matchup vs the Portland Trail Blazers as, despite the loss, Young kept his team in the game as he posted 30 points while also dishing out eight assists for the Hawks in defeat. The Hawks were certainly able to also benefit from Damian Lillard being out of the lineup as Seth Curry took his spot and ended the game with 22 points on the night while CJ McCollum also recorded a triple-double in scoring 28 points, 10 rebounds, along with dishing out 10 assists in the much-needed victory for the Blazers. In fact, McCullum had 10 points in the third quarter alone in which to give the Blazers a slim, three-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.
And while Atlanta certainly made their fair share of runs throughout the game, Curry begin to light things up late as he scored 11 points during a late run by Portland which saw them end the game on a 13-0 run to pick up the victory. As usual, the Hawks picked a lousy time in which to regress on both sides of the floor versus Portland as the 120 points scored by the home team was the second time in three games that the opposition was able to surpass the 120 point mark. Despite this, their six-game road trip continues as game 3 will see the Hawks battle a Clippers squad at Staples Center that, despite them losing their last four games at home, have won three of their last four and have certainly gained their fair share of momentum due to a successful four game road trip.
LA Clippers's Latest Performance :
Lou Williams was able to return to the lineup for his second straight game after a hamstring injury caused him to miss three straight prior, and the results were outstanding as he was able to post a triple-double in pumping in 31 points while also grabbing 10 rebounds and 10 assists in the Clippers win over the Chicago Bulls on the road in their last time out. Williams currently leads the team in assists with five per game as he has averaged eight assists per game in his last two outings.
And while Williams certainly sparked the offense, Tobias Harris was also on fire on the night as well as he posted 29 points 5 grabbing eight rebounds the win as well. Danilo Gallinari missed his fourth straight game as he is dealing with back issues as no timetable has been set as to his return. Nonetheless, the Clippers continue to pick up wins as they are winners of three of their last four, as stated, as they have been able to get it done primarily on the defensive end.
In fact, the Clippers have allowed just an average of 100 points during their current winning streak while the offense continues to labor, at times, particularly without Gallinari in the lineup. The Clippers will now look to begin game two of a three-game homestand by picking up yet another victory over the Atlanta Hawks, who happens to be currently enduring a less than successful road trip in falling to the Portland Trailblazers in their last time out.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Atlanta is 21-27 ATS while the OU is 26 – 22
Los Angeles is 27 – 23 ATS while the ou is 26 – 24
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
Look for this to be an interesting matchup for both teams as Atlanta will be seeking to erect themselves from a rough patch of play lately while riding the back of Trae Young and John Collins, who have been the bright spots for the Hawks all year long. On the other hand, the Clippers will also be looking to continue their winning ways at home where they have struggles. Nonetheless, the Clippers will certainly be needing to pick up a victory as they are being pursued heavily by a Sacramento Kings team that is looking to overtake the second-place slot within the Pacific Division.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Los Angeles Clippers
My reason for the pick :
Again, despite the Clippers falling short in their last four home games, look for them to get back on track versus a struggling Atlanta Hawks team at home on Monday night due to their ability to push the pace throughout the contest while continuing to obtain buckets in transition. Williams has certainly began to step up his play due to the loss of Gallinari, as stated, and will certainly bring his A-game into this matchup. As a result, his played will spark the team, as a whole, in which to power through and pick up a much-needed victory.
Totals Selection: Pick: Under
My reason for the prediction :
While I have no doubt that the Clippers will score some points in this contest versus the Atlanta Hawks, I will also back the under as I happen to believe that the defense for the Clippers will have a solid night versus the struggling Hawks. On the other hand, Los Angeles will also have a decent night on the offensive end, yet one should certainly expect the total to not be surpassed as the under has been the call in the last six games, overall, for the Clippers.
