Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Cleveland Cavaliers vs Chicago Bulls

Two struggling teams within the Central division of the Eastern Conference will get together on Sunday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time in which to somehow right their ship as the Cleveland Cavaliers will travel to United Center in Chicago, Illinois, to battle the struggling Chicago Bulls. After picking up a win versus the Cleveland Cavaliers, their only win in their last 10 games overall as of late, the Chicago Bulls have lost two straight games as they last came at the hands of the Los Angeles Clippers at home as after a tie game to begin the fourth quarter, the Clippers were able to outscore the home team 26 – 19 in the fourth quarter while also getting 31 points from  Lou Williams along with 29 from Tobias Harris in the victory.  Zach LaVine was once again the only source of offense for the Bulls as he pumped in 29 points in the losing effort.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have lost six straight games as they were up by five points at the half in their last outing versus the Miami Heat; However, Miami came out with a vengeance to begin the third quarter as they outscored Cleveland 32 – 17 during this time as they seized control of the game while sealing the victory as well. Justise Winslow finished with 27 points for the Heat while Cedi Osman had 29 points for the Cavaliers in the loss. The Cavaliers are 9 – 28 against the spread in the last thirty seven meetings versus the Chicago Bulls.

Cleveland Cavaliers's Latest Performance :

Of course, the road troubles for the Cleveland Cavaliers have been well documented throughout the season, they have not exactly been consistent at home as they have dropped their last three games at Quicken Loans Arena including a defeat in their last outing to the Miami Heat as Justise Winslow led the offensive charge for a Miami Heat team that shot 46% from the floor as he had 27 points while also pulling down seven boards in the victory. As stated, Whiteside recorded a double-double in this contest with 22 rebounds along with 14 points while Dwyane Wade chipped in 13 points in the victory as well.

Osman has been too long bright spot for the Cavaliers lately as well as throughout the season as he recorded 29 points in the night for Cleveland while Alec Burks and Collin Sexton had 13 points each as the Cavaliers failed to reach the 100-point mark  for the second time in three games. The Cavaliers will now take to the road for a brief, one game showdown with the Chicago Bulls before returning home for yet another three-game homestand. Unfortunately for Chicago, they have been disastrous on the road as the average loss in their last five defeats on the road were by 18 points.

Also, combine this with the fact that Chicago picked up a 16-point win versus the Cavaliers in their last meeting on January 21st, one can almost come to the conclusion that the Cavaliers will indeed struggle in this matchup as well on Sunday.

Chicago Bulls 's Latest Performance :

And while Zach LaVine only went 2-7 from three-point range on the night for the Bulls, he was responsible for a late 3-pointer which put the Bulls up by slight margin late in the game; Nonetheless, Houston would not pull out the victory, despite 29 points from Levine, as the Clippers’ Lou Williams came up with big shot after big shot at the end throughout the game with 31 points while also grabbing 10 rebounds in addition to dishing out 10 assists in the win for the Clippers.

Bobby Portis provided a lift for the Bulls also as he chipped in 18 points while pulling down 14 rebounds in the contest while Kris Dunn went  just 4 – 14 from the floor while ending with 9 points, yet finished with 10 assists for Chicago. In all, Chicago continues to suffer from a severe lack of offensive output as they have only averaged around 100 points per game in recent outings. On the other hand, In their last five losses, they have allowed opponents to average 115 points per game.

Nonetheless, the Bulls will look to end a disastrous home stand with a victory over a struggling Cleveland Cavaliers squad before hitting the road for their next three games. They may indeed have some success in this contest as Cleveland has dropped five of their last six road games, overall, including four straight away from Quicken Loans Arena.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Despite the troubles for both teams currently, one can certainly expect a highly competitive  contest as both teams will be fighting in which to pick up a much-needed victory simply to gain a bit of confidence moving forward. As stated, both teams are coming off of disastrous losing streaks as their offenses have seemingly grinded to a halt. And while Lavine and Osman have been the bright spots for two struggling teens, look for the offenses to struggle yet again in this contest as this may indeed be a low-scoring contest throughout.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:   Chicago Bulls

My reason for the pick :

I will back Chicago in this instance as  they will once again put the clamps on a Cleveland offense that has been about an inconsistent a team as can be lately as well as throughout the season. With that being said, I expect the Bulls to also hit some critical buckets throughout the game as Levine will certainly come to play, as always. In all, expect the home team to perform well going down the stretch while allowing its defense to neutralize an already inconsistent offense for the Cavaliers en route to the victory.

Totals Selection: Pick: Under

My reason for the prediction :

The under has been the play in the last three contests for the Chicago Bulls while so being the result in two of the last three games, overall, for the Cleveland Cavaliers. When one also combines the fact that both offenses have struggled mightily throughout the season, the under will indeed be the strong play in this instance amongst two struggling teams.
