Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Oklahoma City Thunder vs Orlando Magic
The Orlando Magic are set to return home to the Amway Center after playing on the road in their previous outing and they will play host to the Oklahoma City Thunder in a cross-conference clash, the opening tipoff is slated for 7:00 PM. Orlando has struggled as of recent as they have lost 7 of their last 10 games which has pinned them 4 games out of the 8th spot in the Eastern Conference while Oklahoma City surges into this game with 5 straight wins which has put them in 3rd place of the Western Conference.
Oklahoma City Thunder's Latest Performance :
The Oklahoma City Thunder have a chance to bring down the Warriors recent reign of the Western Conference as they have used 5 straight wins to propel themselves within striking distance of Golden State in the standings. Oklahoma City Thunder was able to show us how good they were in a recent home game as they beat arguably the best team in the Eastern Conference in the Milwaukee Bucks 118-112. Paul George was once again able to have a big outing for the Thunder as he went 8 for 12 from behind the arc to contribute to a double-double as he recorded 36 points and 13 rebounds, George is having a great 2nd season in Oklahoma City as he is averaging 27.1 PPG and 8.1 RPG. Joining George in the production column is no other than former MVP Russell Westbrook as the former UCLA Bruin was able to record yet another triple-double with 13 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists, Westbrook is once again averaging a triple-double on the season with 21.6 PPG, 10.8 RPG, and 10.7 APG. Backup PG Dennis Schroder has been an important asset for the Thunder this season as he delivers the scoring for the 2nd unit and we saw him display his abilities against the Bucks with 14 points and 7 assists. 4th year pro Jerami Grant has developed into an important piece of this organization and while he had a productive day in the scoring department (16 points) his impact was felt on the defensive end where he contributed 5 blocks.
Orlando Magic's Latest Performance :
The Orlando Magic lack an identity once again as they have an all-star who will be a free agent next year but they also have a ton of expiring contract for veterans who won’t push this team into the playoffs. The Magic have struggled as of recent as they enter this match loser in 7 of their last 10 matchups with their recent loss coming on the road against the Houston Rockets 103-98. 4th year pro Aaron Gordon had a solid game for the Magic as he was able to record a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds which is well above his season average of 15.9 PPG and 7.7 RPG. Nikola Vucevic is worthy of an all-star spot as the 28-year-old enters this game averaging a double-double with 20.6 PPG and 12 RPG, and we saw him hit that mark once again as he recorded 19 points and 17 rebounds against the Rockets. Veteran Terrance Ross was once again able to deliver a spark off the bench for Orlando as he recorded 15 points and 6 rebounds in the loss against Houston, Ross may be a trade target for playoff contenders as the 6th year pro is averaging 13.9 PPG. 2nd-year pro Jonathan Isaac isn’t a scoring machine by any means but he is a solid defensive piece for the Magic’s top 10 defense as he was able to record 2 steals and 2 blocks in their latest outing. Orlando’s 2018 1st round pick Mo Bamba has struggled to adjust to the NBA and we saw him struggle to find much momentum against the Rockets as he went 0 for 2 from the field with 0 rebounds and 3 fouls in over 14 minutes of playing time.

Against The Spread Selection: Oklahoma City Thunder
My reason for the pick :
Oklahoma City is on a tear as of recent and with the way they are playing you have to give this team a chance in beating the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference finals. Paul George is playing lights out as he is scoring at a high rate and a huge reason for that is because Russell Westbrook has been shooting the ball less and using his playmaking abilities more. Orlando just simply doesn’t have the star power to match up with OKC as they are being outscored by the Thunder by more than 10 PPG. Jerami Grant has turned into a solid piece down low with Steven Adams as they have shown not only the ability to score but play solid defense. Take the Thunder on the road.
