Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
St. Bonaventure Bonnies vs Georgia State Panthers
The Bonnies of Saint Bonaventure University will travel to the GSU Sports Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, to take on the Georgia State Panthers on Monday afternoon at 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The Bonnies come in this game losers of two of their last three games as their last loss came at the hands of the Niagara Purple Eagles as they suffered a 80-72 road loss on November 12th. Niagara was able to pick up the win, however, due to their ability to get inside the paint and draw files as they were able to make 19 of 25 shots from the free-throw line. On the other hand, the Bonnies of St. Bonaventure only went to the line three times for the game while sinking two shots.
On the other hand the Georgia State Panthers went back over 500 for the year in picking up a 62-60 home win over the Mercer Bears on November 13th as The Panthers shot slightly better than the Bears from the floor while the Panthers got 30 points from Jeff Thomas along with five assists in the win.
St. Bonaventure Bonnies's Latest Performance :
St Bonaventure has not been able to play with consistency on either side of the ball this far in the 2018 season. Interestingly enough, their defense is ranked high as it relates to major defensive categories such as field goal percentage allowed along with 3-point percentage allowed. Also, with their defense only allowing 68 points per game, one would have to point to the offense as being the main catalyst as why this team has lost two of three games to begin the season.
In their last outing versus the Niagara purple Eagles, the Bonnies fought valiantly for the win yet would run out of gas late in the game as the Purple Eagles outscored them 46-41 in the second half to pick up the hard-fought victory. Nonetheless, Jalen Poyser led the scoring attack for St. Bonaventure with 24 points as the Bonnies could not pick up the win despite shooting 47% from the floor for the night. They could very well find success both on offense and defense versus a Georgia State squad that is struggling on both ends of the court at this point in the season.
Georgia State Panthers's Latest Performance :
The offense for the Georgia State Panthers have suffered thus far in the 2018 season as they are averaging only 70 points per game on 39.9% shooting from the floor. Thanks in large part to their defensive effort on a nightly basis, the Panthers have been able to increase their record to over .500 for the season in getting a slim victory over the Mercer Bears in their last outing at home. As stated, Jeff Thomas was the headliner for the night as he scored 30 points along with dishing out five assists in the win for Georgia State. Demarcus Simonds chipped in 16 points for the Panthers along with six rebounds in the win as well.
The defense held the Bears to less than 40% shooting for the night while having only two double-digit scores in Ethan Stair with 12 points and 9 rebounds along with Ross Cummings with 10 points and five assists in the losing effort. And while the offense may have another long night against a St. Bonaventure defense that allows only 68 points per game on 37% shooting from the floor, the defense for the Panthers will also have its hands full against a St. Bonaventure offense that is averaging 75 points per game on 44% shooting from the field in 2018.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:
it will be interesting to see how the St Bonaventure Bonnies approach this game versus the Georgia State Panthers on Monday afternoon. On one hand, the Bonnies are an offensive-minded team looking to push the pace while the Panthers defense has been effective this year in preventing offenses from scoring at an effective rate. On the other hand, St. Bonaventure’s defense has not been the most consistent by any stretch, however, the Panthers offense has not been very impressive either. In all, expect this to be a battle on the defensive end as the Panthers will look to neutralize a high-scoring attack for the Bonnies in this Monday afternoon match up.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: St. Bonaventure Bonnies
My reason for the pick :
I feel as though St. Bonaventure will certainly come out with a slim victory in this matchup despite the defensive issues that they may suffer from at this point in the season. In all, the Bonnies have a very effective offensive unit that can certainly take advantage of this Panther defensive unit if they are able to push the ball and run their pace of game. I happen to believe that they will be able to accomplish this in that Georgia state has struggled throughout the season to maintain any kind of consistency on the offensive end. With that being said, look for the Bonnie’s to push the pace early and often in which to gain an early lead while cruising to victory in the end.
Totals Selection: Pick: Under
My reason for the prediction :
I see this game as being a low-scoring yet competitive contest. With that being the case, look for the total to remain well below its set limit for this contest do to two struggling teams looking to pick up the momentum and confidence that comes with winning.
