Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

St. Louis Billikens vs Pittsburgh Panthers

The Saint Louis Billikens will travel to Peterson Event Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to battle the Pitt Panthers in an all-important college basketball matchup on Wednesday  afternoon at 12 p.m. eastern time. Both teams come into the matchup undefeated as the Pitt Panthers picked up a 71-66 win over the North Alabama Lions in their last outing while the Saint Louis Billikens edged the Seton Hall Pirates on the road by a 66-64 score as reserve Dion Wiley had 17 points to lead the Billikens in scoring for  the day while Myles Powell went four for 13 for the night with 16 points for the Pirates. In all, look for both teams to come out motivated in which to get a win in this match up on Wednesday night.

St. Louis Billikens's Latest Performance :

The Billikens picked up their fourth win of the season with a 66-64 road win over the Seton Hall Pirates in their last outing as Deion Wiley led the team with 17 points in the win while St Louis shot 47% from the field including 64% from 3-point range.  They allowed the Seton Hall Pirates to shoot only 33% from the field along with nailing only 4 of 17 3-pointers for the game.

While the offense for the Billikens have been very inconsistent to begin the season, their defense has certainly shown up to play early on as they are allowing only 64 points per game to their opponents on 37.8% shooting from the field. In fact, opponents have not scored more than 65 points on the St.Louis defense all year long. Look for this to be a close and competitive contest amongst two teams that are looking to maintain their undefeated streak while also building on momentum as they move forward in the season.

Pittsburgh Panthers's Latest Performance :

The Lions of  North Alabama relinquished a four-point halftime lead in being outscored 42-33 in the second half en route to a road loss in a game to which they shot 40% from the field while holding the Pitt Panthers to 38% shooting along with 16.7% shooting from 3-point range. Kendarius Smith scored 19 points for the Lions in the loss while Xavier Johnson scored 23 points for the Panthers in the win in addition to Malik Ellison also chipping in 15 points. In a game to where their offense was not as potent, the Panthers found ways in which to win the game due to their ability to get to the free-throw line. For the game, the Panthers shot 42 free throws while making 31 of those; However, The Lions win 8 of 13 for the night from the free throw line, overall.

The defense for Pitt has been solid all season long as they are only allowing 64 points per game to their opponents on 36% shooting from the floor.. And while the Lions shot much better from the field in their last outing, look for the Panthers to regroup in which two illustrate a much better performance versus a St. Louis Billikens team that has struggled from the floor all year long.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Again, look for this to be  and up and down contest from the start as the Billikens will attempt to push the pace a bit in which two obtain some easy baskets on a tough Pittsburgh defense. Keep in mind that the Billikens are averaging 83 points per game. And despite their less-than-stellar output versus the Pirates of Seton Hall, expect St Louis to come out blazing in this matchup as they will certainly be looking to pick up a quality win over a quality team.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:   Pittsburgh Pirates

My reason for the pick :

I will back the Panthers in this outing as they have the more reliable offense along with a much more solid defense that is geared to make  critical stops when needed. Of course, the Billikens will certainly come to play much like they have done all season; However, look for the Panthers to take control of this game late while getting the victory in what will be a low-scoring and competitive contest throughout.

Totals Selection: Pick: Under

My reason for the prediction :

The under has been the play in five of the last eight home games for the Pittsburgh Panthers while being the result in the last four games for the Billikens. Combine this with the fact that both teams possess two strong defenses, altogether, one will likely conclude that the under is indeed the logical pick in which to make in this instance. I happen to be one of those individuals that will certainly back the under in this contest on Wednesday night.

Betting trends for St. Louis Billikens:
