Location : Allen Fieldhouse

Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Stanford vs Kansas

Allen Fieldhouse will feature college basketball’s second-ranked team when the Kansas Jayhawks play host to the Stanford Cardinal early Saturday evening. It’s no surprise the Jayhawks are once again among the nation’s elite. They’ve been there for quite some time. Stanford on the other hand, not known for basketball, is going to have its hands full come game time.

The Fieldhouse should fill every one of the 16,300 seats as the Rock Chalk die-hards always pack into the stands no matter who they are playing. The Jayhawks are averaging 85 points per game while the Cardinal are only averaging 67 points per game. They will have to play lights out if they want to compete in Lawrance, KS.

Stanford's Latest Performance :

The Stanford Cardinal are currently 3-3 with a favorable schedule the rest of the season. They only play one top 20 team in the Oregon Ducks and have room to improve and win some games. Two of their three losses this season were against teams ranked in the top 15 in the nation. Sophomore forward KZ Okpala has played well averaging just over 17 points per game with 6 rebounds. They are on a one-game win streak and aren’t looking to make it two in a row against one of college basketballs better programs and a team that appears to be on a mission this season.

Kansas's Latest Performance :

Bill Self always has his team ready to play.  The Jayhawks are 5-0 and are always on the brink of running the table each season and are a national championship threat once the tournament rolls around in March. The starting five are among the best in the nation as they sit only behind the Duke Bluedevils who too is a threat to go all the way.

Lagerald Vick has been the points leader and dominating player on the floor for the Jayhawks this year. The 6’5 senior guard may have a handle on the offense, but forward Dedric Lawson has not only shown he can score, averaging 17 points per game, but he’s also been a force on the boards hauling down over 10 rebounds per game.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

The match-up tonight isn’t much of one. The Stanford Cardinal have been given a less than 5% chance of winning this game and for good reason. Look for KU to shut down their leading scorer and dominate on both ends of the floor. For KU, this game will be more like a scrimmage than a competitive college basketball game. Unranked Florida beat Stanford by more than 20 and there’s a good possibility KU will double that when the final buzzer sounds.

Betting trends for Stanford:

  • Stanford is 3-3 overall

  • Stanford is 1-1 as away team

  • Stanford is 3-3 in non-conference games

Betting trends for Kansas:

  • KU is 5-0 overall

  • KU is 2-0 as home favorite

  • KU is 5-0 in non-conference games
