Boston College Eagles vs Texas A&M Aggies
The Texas A&M Aggies return home to Reed Arena for a 3rd consecutive home game where they will take on the Boston College Eagles, the opening tipoff is slated for 6:00 PM. The Aggies have started the year off slow and look like they are in a rebuilding stage while the Eagles are trying to assert themselves as one of the best teams in the ACC.
Boston College Eagles's Latest Performance :
It became apparent last season that the Boston College Eagles are an up and coming program in the ACC as they beat a good Duke team and made a push in the conference tournament. The Eagles are without their top player from 2017 in Jerome Robinson but that hasn’t stopped the Eagles early on in 2018. The Eagles are coming off a hard-fought loss against their rivals in the Providence Friars as they went to OT and ran out of gas in a 100-95 game. The Eagles were led by senior guard Jordan Chatman as the former BYU transfer dropped 28 points in 44 minutes of playing time. Chatman was the “3rd” guy last year for the Eagles but his production has fallen off in 2018 as he is only averaging 13.9 PPG. One of the top players in the ACC Ky Bowman continued his hot start to the season by dropping 17 points and grabbing 7 rebounds which puts his season averages at 19.1 PPG and 6.8 RPG. The Eagles were without the services of junior forward Nik Popovic who has been a solid piece down low this season as he is averaging 12 PPG and 6.3 RPG.
Texas A&M Aggies's Latest Performance :
The Texas A&M Aggies made their mark felt last season when they steamrolled UNC in the NCAA tournament but the start of 2018 has not been as pretty for the inexperienced team as they lost most of their 2017 production. The Aggies are coming off a blowout win at home against Northwestern State 80-59 which was a necessary booster for this team moving forward. The Aggies received a nice game out of junior guard Wendell Mitchell as he dropped a team-high 18 points which is way above his season average of 7.3 PPG. The leading scorer for this Aggies team in sophomore guard Savion Flagg didn’t reach his season average of 14.6 PPG but he had an all-around solid game as he was able to drop 9 points, dish out 6 assists, and grab 6 rebounds. One of the best performances against Northwestern State came from backup forward Josh Nebo as the junior fell just short of a double-double with 8 points and 9 rebounds. The Aggies aren’t known as a team who will put up 80 points per game which means the defense will heading into the conference schedule.

Against The Spread Selection: Boston College Eagles
My reason for the pick :
The Boston College Eagles are one of my sleeper picks in the ACC especially when they are healthy as they have a good backcourt and a fiesty frontcourt. They have shown the ability to score on top opponents as Providence is a solid team and given the fact that Texas A&M has the 217th ranked defense I think they should have similar success in this matchup. Texas A&M has also been awful at home this season as they have yet to cover the spread once. The guard play for these two teams should be a good matchup but the difference is the big men as Boston College has an advantage.
