Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Georgetown Hoyas vs Syracuse Orange 6-2

The Georgetown Hoyas will travel to the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, New York, to battle the Syracuse Orange on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Both teams are coming into this matchup on winning streaks as the Georgetown Hoyas picked up an 88-78 home win over the Liberty Flames as the Hoyas had 18 turnovers for the night yet shot 58% from the field while nailing 11-18 3-point attempts for the night as they were led by James Akinjo with 19 points on the night as he went 3-5 from three-point range.

The Syracuse Orange also picked up a win over the Huskies of Northeastern in their last outing as they only shot 43% from the floor, yet outrebounded the Huskies by a margin of 41 – 27 for the game en route to the home victory.

Georgetown Hoyas 's Latest Performance :

In their only true road game of the season, the Georgetown Hoyas picked up an eight-point win over the Illinois Fighting Illini earlier in the season. In this contest, the Hoyas offense put up 88 points during the contest  as this has certainly been the mantra for them in 2018 with their offense averaging 80 points per game on 47% shooting. In their last outing versus Liberty, Georgetown also scored 88 points as they shot 53% from the floor while Akinjo along with Jessie Govan contributed 19 and 17 points, respectively, in the win.

And despite 18 turnovers for  Georgetown in the game, they were able to heavily outrebound the Flames during the course of the game in which to pick up an all-important victory. The Flames only shot 43% from the floor, yet nailed 13 3-pointers on the night led by Darius McGee who went 5-12 from long-range while leading the team with 19 points in the meantime. In all, Georgetown certainly had to grind out the win versus Liberty as this has also been the case for them lately as six of their 8 wins this season has come by less than 10 points, overall.

It would be important to mention that  Georgetown is ranked only 242nd in the nation in points allowed per game yet they have allowed opponents to shoot only 43% from the floor in 2018. They now look to have success versus a Syracuse offense that possesses talent and experience, yet find themselves playing inconsistently at times during ball games.

Syracuse Orange 6-2's Latest Performance :

The Orange have certainly been extraordinary on the defensive end of the floor in 2018 as they are currently ranked 22nd in the nation in allowing only 61 points per game to their opponents on 38% shooting. In fact, during their four-game winning streak, Syracuse is only allowed opponents to  score 57 points per game.  Their last outing versus Northeastern was certainly an illustration of their overall defensive prowess as their opponent shot 34% from the field while making only 6 of 28 3-point attempts on the night.

Tomas Murphy went 7-10 from the floor for the Huskies while leading the team with 17 points in the loss while O’shae Brissett lead the Orange in scoring 21 points while Elijah Hughes chipped in 17 points in the win as well. Nonetheless, both Brissett and Hughes struggled from three-point range as they were a combined 5-15 on the night. As stated, Syracuse must be able to lead with their defense in this matchup versus the Hoyas as they are putting up 80 points per game on 47% shooting for the year while also shooting 36% from three-point range as well. With that being the case, look for the Orange to continue their momentum at home where they are undefeated in their last five contests.

How Georgetown Hoyas & Syracuse Orange 6-2 Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Georgetown is 2 – 6 ATS while the OU is  6 – 1

Syracuse is 4 – 4 ATS while the OU is  3 – 5

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

This will be an interesting matchup for both teams as they each would like to continue their current winning streaks while picking up a huge victory in the meantime. As stated,  the Orange have certainly shined on the defensive end this year while the Hoyas have been an offensive-minded team for the most part. With that being the case, expect this game to be highly competitive throughout as  Georgetown will look to push the ball in which to gain easy points in transition while Syracuse will also want to push the ball in which the kick-start their offense early.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:   Syracuse Orange

My reason for the pick :

While the offense for Syracuse has not been the most stellar lately, I will back them to make some critical shots vs a shaky defense for Georgetown in this matchup as the Orange will pull out a slim victory in the end. As stated, the defense for Syracuse has certainly been the tip of the spear for the team in 2018 as this will certainly continue versus a potent team in Georgetown. Of course, the road team will certainly bring their A-game for this contest, however, they will fall in the end due to the defensive prowess for Syracuse along with their offense making the big shots down the  stretch.

Totals Selection: Pick: Under

My reason for the prediction :

The under has been the play in the last four games for the Syracuse Orange. And while the over has been the play in the last five games for the Georgetown Hoyas, I will certainly back the under in this contest as I happen to believe that Syracuse will certainly have a solid night on the defensive  end versus a Georgetown team that will likely have issues in the half-court offense throughout the contest. With that being the case, the under is indeed the strong play in this matchup as we will certainly witness a low-scoring and competitive game from these two squads.
