Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Phoenix Suns vs San Antonio Spurs

The Phoenix Suns will travel to AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas, to battle the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday night at 8:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The Spurs are coming off of a 110 – 97 home win over the Utah Jazz thanks to a red hot first half of shooting the ball as the Spurs went up by 18 points at the half while cruising to victory throughout thanks to DeMar DeRozan, who led the team with 26 points along with six rebounds and eight assists in the second straight win for San Antonio.

On the other hand, the Phoenix Suns lost their eighth straight game as they fell to the Miami Heat at home by a 115 – 98 score as a promising first quarter which saw the Suns go up by a 36-34 lead, diminished to a point where Phoenix only scored an average of 19 points per quarter throughout the remainder of the game en route to the deflating loss. Unfortunately, the Suns are winless against the spread in the last 5 meetings versus the San Antonio Spurs while the under has been the play in 6 of the  last seven meetings at AT&T Center amongst these squads.

Phoenix Suns 's Latest Performance :

The Phoenix Suns allowed a struggling offensive team in the Miami Heat to shoot 49% on the night in their last matchup as they also allowed the visitors to make 15 3-pointers led by Bam Adebayo along with Justin Winslow with 22 and 20 points, respectively, for the much-needed win for Miami. Goran dragic returned to the lineup in this game ending with 11 points on 5-13 shooting from the field in addition to having 10 assists.

On the other hand, the Phoenix Suns had 20 turnovers on the night  yet shot a respectable 46% from the floor along with hitting 14 3-pointers as Troy Daniels scored 18 points off the bench while going 6-6 from long-range while DeAndre Ayton scored 16 points while pulling down 11 rebounds in yet another loss for the Suns. Ayton is currently on the bench as he is recovering from an illness and is uncertain to play in this matchup.

San Antonio Spurs's Latest Performance :

The Spurs have picked up their second straight win after a victory over the Utah Jazz at home in their last contest as DeMar DeRozan led the team with 26 points while LaMarcus Aldridge finished with 23 points  in addition to Rudy Gay chipping in 22 points along with 15 rebounds for the Spurs.  The defense for the Spurs certainly had a much better showing as they allowed the Utah Jazz to shoot only 43% from the floor for the night as their leading scorers in Donovan Mitchell and Ricky Rubio combined to score 27 and 26 points for Utah yet going a combined 19 – 44 from the field.

In all, LaMarcus Aldridge has seemingly worked his way back into a much better form than the one illustrated early in the season. When asked about his  recent struggles, he said ”It’s a marathon.” ”You can’t get too high, can’t get too low, can’t get caught up in one loss (or) one win. You know we’ve had great games where we’ve played the right way and had good wins. And we’ve had games where we laid an egg out there. So, you have to enjoy it, learn from it, and just stay hungry.” With that being said, look for the Spurs to continue their winning ways versus a Phoenix team that has been horrible on both sides of the ball in 2018 as they continue to drop ball games due to mental breakdowns.

How Phoenix Suns & San Antonio Spurs Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Phoenix is 8 – 18 ATS while the OU is  11 – 15

San Antonio is 13 – 13 – 1 ATS while the OU is  17 – 9

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

This game will certainly be important for the Spurs as they may be getting an even more short-handed Phoenix Suns team in this matchup on Wednesday night. With that being said, the focus must be there from the home team as they will certainly want to continue their winning streak at a critical time in the season. The Phoenix Suns, on the other hand, continues to struggle, as stated, yet come into this game focus on obtaining a much-needed victory to end an extended losing streak of their own.  It is for this reason that I expect this game to be an up-and-down contest from start to finish as each team will be looking to either extend their current winning ways, or, get back onto the winning track with and all important victory.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick: San Antonio Spurs

My reason for the pick :

The Suns simply cannot stop teams from scoring at this point in the season, as stated. On the other hand, their offense has also been dreary as well ss not only Devin Booker has been on the injured list for quite some time with no definite return date, but, DeAndre Ayton may also be out of the lineup for this matchup as well due to illness, as stated. With that being the case, looking for DeRozan and Aldridge to have yet another solid night on the offensive end while the Spurs defense will neutralize an already inconsistent offense for Phoenix  while cruising to victory.

Totals Selection: Pick: Over

My reason for the prediction :

I will back the over in this matchup as the San Antonio Spurs will certainly possess all of the momentum heading into this contest on Wednesday night. With that being the case, the over has been the play in three of the last four home games for the Spurs, overall. I certainly expect this trend to continue as Phoenix cannot stop teams from scoring on a consistent basis in 2018. With the Spurs looking to come out of a funk of their own, expect them to take advantage of this contest early and often as the over will certainly be the strong play.
