Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
SMU Mustangs vs Georgetown Hoyas
The SMU Mustangs will travel to Capital One Arena in Washington, DC, to play the Georgetown Hoyas on Saturday afternoon at 12 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Both teams come into this matchup halting four-game winning streaks as the Hoyas fell on the road to the Syracuse Orangemen by a 72 – 71 score as the orange rallied from a 13-point halftime deficit in which to outscore Georgetown 50 – 36 in the second half en route to the victory.
The SMU Mustangs fell at home versus the TCU Horned Frogs as they suffered a 67-59 loss as TCU also outscored them 38-24 in the second half after going down by 6 at the end of the first. Nonetheless, both teams will be looking to get back on the winning track on Saturday in what will be a very competitive and exciting match-up.
SMU Mustangs's Latest Performance :
And while the offense for the Mustangs have been solid on the year in averaging 75 points per game on 46% shooting from the field, this was not the case in their matchup at home versus the TCU Horned Frogs in their last time out as they only shot 38% on the night despite going up by six points at the half. Aside from going only four of 25 from three-point range, the Mustangs committed 13 costly turnovers throughout the game as Jarrey Foster finished with five turnovers during the contest while going 1-5 from the floor and ending with just two points. On the other hand, Jahmal McMurray ended with 19 points to lead the Mustangs in scoring, yet, he went only 8-22 from the floor while Isiaha Mike ended with fourteen points and seven rebounds in the loss. The Horned Frogs, on the other hand, shot a tad better at 42% on the night while going 9 of 27 from 3-point range as they were led by JT Miller along with Jaylen Fisher who scored 15 points each while Fisher at went 5-8 from long range.
The Mustangs will now look to get back on the winning streak, yet, it will not be easy versus a Georgetown team that continues to be a dangerous offensive team while their defense has allowed opponents to score an average of 78 points per game in their last four outings. Nonetheless, the Hoyas will be looking to extend their momentum from a solid defensive performance versus the Syracuse Orange in their last outing in which to pick up a huge, confidence building victory.
Georgetown Hoyas's Latest Performance :
The Georgetown Hoyas kept their game with the Syracuse Orange manageable throughout the first half, yet left the Carrier Dome with their first loss in their last five outings as the team outrebounded the Orange by a 50-41 margin, however, allowed 43% shooting to the Orange on the night as Tyus Battle led the offensive charge for Syracuse with 26 points along with five rebounds in the victory. A high-scoring offense in the Hoyas, however, went only 39% from the floor in this contest as they were able to nail 10 three-pointers on the night led by Jessie Govan along with Matthew McClung Who went 5-14 from three-point range on the night while having 25 and 22 points, respectively, for the Hoyas in the slim loss. Georgetown will look to get back on track versus a dangerous SMU Squad that is shooting over 46% from the field on the season, yet, its defense has been known to allow teams to shoot much too well from the floor at 45% on a nightly basis.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:
This will be an interesting matchup as the Mustangs will be looking to get back to their offensive ways versus a Georgetown team that is no stranger to allowing a ton of points to their opponents this year. On the other hand, Georgetown will also look to kick-start their offense as well as this will certainly be a fast-paced, back-and-forth contest throughout. In all, I expect both of these teams to bring the focus and intensity for an all-important match up on Saturday afternoon.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: SMU Mustangs
My reason for the pick :
Again, while Georgetown struggled a bit on the offensive end versus Syracuse, I expect them to play much better in this outing versus a Mustangs team that allows 45% shooting per game. On the other hand, look for SMU to also put some points up in this contest as the Hoyas have been a bit lethargic on the defensive end all season. With that being the case, due to their ability to allow baskets at critical points in games, look for the Hoyas to fall, once again, to the visiting Mustangs on Saturday afternoons as the road team will certainly remain consistent on the offensive end throughout the game.
Totals Selection: Pick: Over
My reason for the prediction :
I will go with the over in this contest as the Mustangs come into this game continuing to be a dangerous offensive squad while Georgetown, as stated, despite enduring an offensive lull versus a solid defensive team in the Orange, continues to rank amongst the best as it relates to offensive efficiency. With that being the case, look for the over to be the strong play in this matchup as both teams will certainly be looking to establish themselves on this end early and often.
