Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Ohio Bobcats vs Purdue Boilermakers

The Ohio Bobcats will travel to MacKay Arena in West Lafayette, Indiana, to battle the Purdue Boilermakers on Thursday night at 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Purdue comes into this game losers of two straight while also  dropping four of their last five games, overall, as their last loss came at the hands of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at home as the Boilermakers allowed the Irish to shoot over 50 percent both from the field as well as from three-point range on the night while they shot 42% while nailing only 9 of 29 3-point attempts en route to the defeat.

Ohio has won two straight games while also six of their last seven as they picked up a win versus the Titans of Detroit Mercy by a 63-61 score as they held off a late second-half rally by the Titans due to their ability to play solid on the defensive end of the floor as they allowed only 35% shooting to the home team throughout the contest.

Ohio Bobcats's Latest Performance :

The Ohio Bobcats are winners of five of their last six games, overall, as they picked up a win on the road over the Detroit Mercy Titans in the last outing as their defense was the tip of the spear, once again, in allowing the opponents to shoot only 35% from the floor while making good on only 7 of 22 attempts from three point range as  Antoine Davis along with Harrison Curry were the only two double-digit scores for the Titans with 19 and 12 points, respectively.

On the other hand, the offense for Ohio labored, once again, in shooting 42% from the floor as Jason Carter led the team with 20 points on 6-14 shooting from the floor while Teyvion Kirk came off the bench to score 13 points for Ohio in the all-important victory as the team only shot 5-16 from three-point range on the night while  outrebounding the Titans by a 38- 28 margin. It would also be important to note that the Titans turned the ball over 14 times compared to a whopping 21 times for the Bobcats;   Nonetheless, they were able to pick up the much-needed victory despite these mental mishaps. They will not look to move on to face a Purdue team that has struggled mightily coming into this matchup. As stated, Purdue’s defense certainly let them down in their last outing versus Notre Dame and will certainly be looking for a much better performance versus a struggling Ohio team on Thursday.

Purdue Boilermakers's Latest Performance :

While the offense for Purdue has struggled throughout the entire season,  their defense was the catalyst for their most recent loss vs. the Notre Dame Fighting Irish as they allowed the visitors to shoot 45% from the from the floor during the game as they were led by John Mooney along with DJ Harvey, who finished with 20 and 19 points for the Fighting Irish as they  connected on 11 of 21 three pointers for the night as well. On the other hand, Purdue revved up its offense on this night as it ended with 80 points in the contest as the team shot a dismal 41% from the floor along with making good on only nine 3-pointers on the night.

The Boilermakers not only outrebounded the Fighting Irish by a margin of 37 – 29 for the game, but, also dished out 21 assists; Nonetheless, they were inaccurate from the free-throw line is they went 11-18 on the night while Notre Dame finished going 85% from the free throw line in sinking 25 of 29, overall. Carson Edwards shot terrible from three-point range on the night for Purdue while leading the team with seventeen points on 8-22 shooting as the Boilermakers lost their second straight game with the loss.

Purdue is currently averaging 77 points per game on 44% shooting on a nightly basis while, defensively, they are giving up only 69 points on 43% shooting. Furthermore, their defense allows their opponents to shoot 30% from three-point range per outing. They will now match up with the Ohio Bobcats, who is a team that has had troubles on the offensive end as well, yet their defense continues to allow them to not only remain competitive in games, but, to also string together victories as of late, as well.

How Ohio Bobcats & Purdue Boilermakers Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Ohio is 3 – 6 ATS while the UO is  3 – 6

Purdue is 5 – 6 ATS while the OU is  5 – 6

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

This will be a very interesting game in that Ohio will certainly want to continue their stellar play on the road versus a struggling Purdue team. The other hand, the Boilermakers would like to end a current  rough patch to where they continue to drop games due to the inability to play consistent on either side of the ball. In all, expect this to be a very competitive game, nonetheless, as Purdue has won their last three home games while the Bobcats come into this game dominating in their last road victory over Detroit Mercy.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick   Ohio Bobcat

My reason for the pick :

While I believe that Purdue will certainly come out and play much better on the defensive end of the floor in this matchup at home versus Ohio on Thursday, I will back the road team as I happen to believe that Ohio has simply been the most consistent team, overall, recently. With that being said, expect Ohio to push the ball constantly in which to catch Purdue on its heels on the defensive end. This philosophy will certainly allow the Bobcats to obtain a lead that they will manage throughout the game in what will be a competitive contest, as stated. Yet, it will also be one that will end in favor of the Ohio Bobcats in this matchup.

Totals Selection: Pick: Under

My reason for the prediction :

With two inconsistent offenses taking the floor in this matchup, I will certainly back the under as it has been the play in four the last six games, overall, for the Purdue Boilermakers while also being the result in six of the last 10 games for the Ohio Bobcats. With that being the case, expect for this to be a slower-paced matchup vs two teams that will certainly have their fair share of issues throughout the course of the game due to their inability to find any type of consistency and / or cohesion on the offensive end of the floor lately.

Betting trends for Ohio Bobcats:

  • The Bobcats are 3-6 aTS  and last nine games

  • The under is 6 – 3 in Bobcats last nine games

Betting trends for Purdue Boilermakers:

  • The Boilermakers are 2-4 ATs  in last 6 games

  • The under is 4 – 2 ATS in Boilermakers last six games
