Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Harvard Crimson vs UNC Tar Heels

The Harvard Tigers will visit the Dean Smith Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, to battle the 14th ranked North Carolina Tar Heels on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The Tar Heels bounced back from their loss versus the Kentucky Wildcats in which to pick up the home win over the Davidson Wildcats as their defense allowed Davidson to post 10 three-pointers on the night, yet the visitors only shot 29% from the floor. On the other hand, the Tar Heels shot 44% from the floor while being led by Cameron Johnson, who had 17 points along with seven rebounds as he went 7 – 11 from the floor.

On the other hand, the  Harvard tigers have won two straight games as their defense have not allowed opponents to score 70 or more points in each of these outings, despite allowing 47% shooting to the Mercer Bears along with 42% shooting from three-point range. On the other hand, Mercer allowed Harvard to shoot 49% for the night while connecting on 12 three-point attempts en route to the all important victory.

Harvard Crimson's Latest Performance :

Harvard has indeed struggled on the road recently as they are 1 – 4 in their last five outings, as stated. Nonetheless, each of these losses have been by an average of four points, total. With that being the case, the Crimson will certainly come into this matchup with tons of confidence as they are winners of two straight games after picking up a win versus the Mercer Bears on the road in their last outing. Harvard sprung out to a 41-28 halftime lead while cruising to victory in the second half behind 19 points off the bench by Noah Kirkwood, who went 3-5 from long range yet having five turnovers on the night. Chris Lewis also chipped in 13 points as well for Harvard as the Crimson shot 48% on the night as a team while committing 16 turnovers.

On the other hand, the defense for the Crimson was lackluster as well as the Bears also shot 48% from the floor while connecting on six of 14 3-pointers on the night as Ross Cummings went 3-6 from long range on the night while leading the team with 21 points. Nonetheless, Harvard was able to hit 12 3-pointers as Danilo Djuricic came off the bench in which to hit three huge 3-pointers while ending the game with 11 points  in an exciting victory for the Crimson. They now seek to take to the road again in which to remain competitive versus a North Carolina team that will certainly look for yet another dominating performance in which to prepare themselves for the road ahead.

UNC Tar Heels 's Latest Performance :

As stated, the North Carolina Tar Heels had no such problems on either side of the floor versus the Davidson Wildcats in their last outing.  As also pointed out, they were looking to rebound from a heartbreaking loss to the Kentucky Wildcats to where they posted only 72 points for the game. Nonetheless, they were back to their old offensive ways versus the Wildcats as they went over the 80 point mark while allowing Davidson only 60 points on the night as Luke Frampton along with Jon Axel Gudmundsson were the only two double-digit scores for Davidson with 15 points apiece as they went a combined 9 of 28 shooting from the field.

In all, the Tar Heels allowed only 29% shooting from the field for Davidson while the home team shot 44% for the night while outrebounding the Wildcats by a 48-32 margin for the game as Luke Maye powered in 14 rebounds for UNC along with 11 points while Johnson, as stated, chipped in 17 to lead the team as North Carolina possessed five double-digit scorers, in all. Look for North Carolina to continue to move forward at this point in the season while continuing to maintain consistency on both sides of the ball versus a Harvard team that has indeed won two straight games, however, are losers of four of their last five road games, overall.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick: North Carolina Tar Heels

My reason for the pick :

I will back the Heels in this contest as they will slowly but surely take command of this matchup at some point while dominating the boards en route to a much-needed victory. Of course, Harvard will bring their A-game for this matchup early on as they will certainly make this game interesting. However, look for North Carolina to buckle down, once again, while controlling the pace of this game  throughout much of the contest as they will continue to build confidence with yet another dominating performance.

Totals Selection: Pick: Over

My reason for the prediction :

I  will back the over in this contest as I will look for North Carolina to have a solid performance on the offensive end versus a Harvard team that has played well on the defensive end, however, will find issues in matching up with a more physical and talented North Carolina team in the end. Of course, the scoreboard will swell in favor of the home team in this matchup,  nonetheless, look for the over to indeed be the strong play in this contest on Wednesday night.

Betting trends for Harvard Crimson:

  • The over is 5-1 in Crimson last six games

Betting trends for UNC Tar Heels :

  • The Tar Heels are 3 – 4 – 1ATS  in their last eight games
