Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Tulane Green Wave vs Cincinnati Bearcats
The Tulane Green Wave will travel to Fifth Third Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio, to battle the Cincinnati Bearcats in college basketball action on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The Bearcats have rebounded nicely from a double-digit loss to the Mississippi State Bulldogs on the road in which to pick up wins in their last two outings, with their last being a win over the South Carolina State Bulldogs at home. In this outing, the Bearcats held the Bulldogs to only 16 points in the first half while also holding them to only 34% shooting for the game in addition to outrebounding South Carolina State by a 44 – 27 margin en route to the victory.
The Tulane Green Wave, on the other hand, lost to the Alabama A&M Bulldogs in their last outing as they relinquished a four-point halftime lead while being outscored by a 36-24 margin in the second half en route to their seventh loss in nine outings, overall.
Tulane Green Wave's Latest Performance :
The Green Wave of Tulane are losers of three of their last four games, overall, to where their offense put up 60 or more points only once during this time. In their last outing versus the Alabama A&M Bulldogs, Tulane shot dismal for the night at 38% while going 7 of 29 from three-point range as a team as Caleb Daniels along with Samir Sehic ended the game with 14 and 13 points, respectively, as they were the only two double-digit scores for Tulane. On the other hand, Walter Jones Jr, Brandon Miller, along with Trey Todd combined for seven 3-pointers on the night as they ended with 19, 15, along with 14 points for Alabama A&M in the huge victory.
In all, Tulane has simply been horrible all year long as their offense has not been able to remain consistent while their defense has also gotten worse as the season progresses, despite the team allowing just 42% shooting from the floor on a nightly basis. Nonetheless, the Green Wave may indeed have some success on the defensive end vs. an anemic offense for Cincinnati that continues to win off the strength of their stifling defensive efforts.
Cincinnati Bearcats's Latest Performance :
Cincinnati continues to dominate teams with their overall defensive prowess in 2018 as they have prevented opponents from scoring 70 points in their last two outings, overall. For the season, the Bearcats are allowing just 38% shooting from the floor along with 58 points on a nightly basis as this was certainly illustrated like none other versus the South Carolina State Bulldogs at home in their last outing as the Bearcats limited the visitors to 16 points in the first half as the Bulldogs ended with 56 points on the night while shooting 34% from the floor, as stated, along with 28% from three-point range as Janai Raynor-Powell led the team with 15 points as he went 5-11 from the floor for South Carolina State.
On the other hand, Cincinnati was led by Nysier Brooks with 17 points along with eight rebounds for the contest as Cincinnati shot only slightly better at 41% on the day. Nonetheless, Cincinnati was able to heavily outrebound the Bulldogs while also taking advantage of 13 turnovers on the night en route to the much-needed victory. Cincinnati will now look to put the clamps on a Tulane offense that has been atrocious lately as well as throughout the season as they are averaging only 68 points per game on 44% shooting.
How Tulane Green Wave & Cincinnati Bearcats Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Tulane is 5 – 7 ATS while the OU is 4-8
Cincinnati is 7 – 6 ATS while the OU is 4 – 9
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
This will be an interesting game in that it will likely be one that will be slow-paced and low scoring as the offenses for both teams has simply not been able to find the bottom of the net throughout the season. With that being the case, look for this matchup to also be one that is highly competitive in that both teams will be looking to either continue their outstanding winning streak, or, to somehow erect themselves from a rough patch of play lately, in general.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Cincinnati Bearcats
My reason for the pick :
Look for the Bearcats to pull out a victory in this matchup versus a Tulane team that simply cannot compete on the offensive end at this point in the season. Of course, with the type of defense that Cincinnati will bring to the court on Wednesday night, one can certainly expect them to neutralize an already inconsistent offense for Tulane while their offense will hit some critical buckets down the stretch in which to pull away from the visitors in the end.
Totals Selection: Pick: Under
My reason for the prediction :
Again, the under has been the play in the majority of games for the Bearcats this year and I expect these trends to continue versus a Green Wave team that ranks as one of the worst offenses in the nation at this point in the season. In all, look for the under to be the strong playing this matchup as Cincinnati will score just enough in which to pick up a much-needed victory while they will certainly limit the offense for Tulane throughout the contest.
