Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Colorado Buffaloes vs Arizona Wildcats

The Colorado Buffaloes will travel to McKale Center in Tucson, Arizona, for a big 12 matchup versus the Arizona Wildcats on Thursday night at 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The Arizona Wildcats are currently on a two-game winning streak as they picked up a victory versus the Aggies of UC Davis at home in their last outing as they were able to fend off a huge second-half rally by the Aggies in which to pick up a slim, two point win behind 16 points along with five rebounds from Chase Jeter along with 15 points and eight rebounds from Brandon  Randolph.

On the other hand, the Colorado Buffaloes were able to halt a two-game losing streak as they picked up a win versus the offensively-challenged Charlotte 49ers in their last outing as Lucas Stewart led the way with 17 points while also going 3-5 from three-point range to lead Colorado in the scoring department while the team shot 45% from the floor on the night. The over has been the play in the last 8 meetings amongst these two teams.

Colorado Buffaloes's Latest Performance :

For the season, Colorado is averaging 79 points per game on 47% shooting from the floor on a nightly basis. As stated, the problem is that their offense has struggled to the point to where they have failed to score 70 points in each of their last three games. In their last outing versus the Charlotte 49ers, the Buffaloes were able to shoot 45% from the floor while connecting on seven of 23 3 point attempts in the contest as Siewert  led the team with 17 points while Daylen Kountz along with Namon Wright had 12 and 10 points, respectively, for the Buffaloes in the all-important victory.

On the other hand, the defense allowed Charlotte’s struggling offense to shoot just 40% on the night while connecting on just 1 of 16 3-point attempts on the night as John Davis went 1 of 4 from three-point range while ending with 25 points to lead the 49ers in the loss. In all, look for Colorado to take the confidence and move on as they will certainly have a much better step up in competition as they face the Arizona Wildcats on Thursday night. It will be important to know that the Colorado Buffaloes have simply been an average team on the road in their last four outings winning only two. On the other hand, Arizona has won four of their last five games at McKale Center as opponents have failed to reach the 70-point marking in each these outings, overall.

Arizona Wildcats's Latest Performance :

Arizona has certainly not been known as an offensive team in 2018. In fact, the Wildcats are only putting up an average of  74 points per game on 45% shooting. On the other hand, their defense has been the saving grace for this team as they have kept them competitive throughout the season while preventing teams to score 70 points or more in four of their last five games, overall. Nonetheless, in their last meeting versus the Aggies of UC Davis, Arizona allowed the visitors to shoot 51% from the floor on the night while holding them to just four of 17 from long range.

Arizona, on the other hand, converted on 6 of 18 three pointers on the night while shooting 47% from the floor led by Siewart and Randolph with 16 and 15 points, as stated, as they were the only two double-digit scores for the Wildcats. On the other hand, they Aggies were led by Ty  Shorts II as he had 25 points along with seven rebounds while going 10-15 from the floor as the Aggies were able to dish out a total of 25 assists in the game while out rebounding Arizona slightly by a 28-25 margin.

As stated, the Wildcats played well in the first-half as they opened up an 11 point lead going into the break; However, lost their way during the second half while making the game much more interesting than what it needed to be. Nonetheless, Arizona will look to move on in which to battle a Colorado team that also played well in their last outing after a rough patch of play. In fact, Colorado has not scored 70 points in their last three games, overall.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Look for this to be a highly competitive Pac-12 matchup on Thursday night as the Colorado Buffaloes will be looking to maintain their second ranked position with the Pac-12  conference. On the other hand, Arizona is currently ranked third in the conference and will certainly be looking to pick up a win in which to continue bringing the  pressure onto the Arizona State Sun Devils for the top spot within the conference.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Arizona Wildcats

My reason for the pick :

I will back the Wildcats in this matchup as they have simply been the more dominant team at home as opposed to Colorado on the road. In other words, the Arizona Wildcats will pick up this win due to their defensive efficiency at McKale Center as I certainly see them neutralizing an up and down offense for Colorado throughout this matchup on Thursday night. In all, look for Arizona to pull away with a convincing victory  as their offense will continue to hit critical buckets in which to pull away versus a Colorado team that has simply been average on the road all season.

Totals Selection: Pick: Under

My reason for the prediction :

With the way in which both offenses has struggled lately, the under will certainly be the play in this contest on Thursday night amongst these two teams. On the other hand, the defenses, as stated, has had to step up lately in which two atone for a lack of consistent offensive output, thus meaning that these trends will likely continue as I certainly see both teams struggling in this matchup as well.
