Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Elon Phoenix vs Drexel Dragons

The Elon  Phoenix will travel to Daskalakis Athletic Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to battle the Drexel Dragons on Thursday at 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Drexel enters this game currently in a rough patch as they have lost four straight games with their last being a 14-point loss on the road to the Hofstra Pride as the Pride jumped out to a 20-point lead at the halftime break while cruising to victory in the second behind 34 points from Justin Wright Foreman who went 5-10 from three-point range for the game.

On the other hand, the Elon Phoenix enter this game halting a two-game losing streak as they picked up a slim victory over the Dukes of James Madison at home in their last outing as 49% shooting as well as capitalizing off 13 turnovers for the Dukes allowed the Elon Phoenix to get back on the winning track.  Nonetheless, the Phoenix remain losers of six of their last eight games, overall.   The over has been the play in six of the last nine meetings among these two teams while the road team is 7 – 3 against the spread in the last 10 meetings.

Elon Phoenix 's Latest Performance :

As stated,  Elon broke a two game losing streak in their last outing versus the Dukes of James Madison as their offense not only shot eight of 19 from three-point range, but, certainly shined from the field as a team in shooting 49% as Tyler Seibring led the team with 21 points along with five rebounds while Steven Santa Ana ended with 16 points along with nine rebounds for the Phoenix. Lastly, Chris Wooten wet 4-8 from three-point range and ending with 14 points to provide a lift for the Phoenix as well.

James Madison, on the other hand, got 22 points along with 10 rebounds from Dwight Wilson as the Dukes outrebounded the Phoenix by a 35-23 margin, yet committed 13 costly turnovers which certainly didn’t bode well for them picking up the victory. Nonetheless, Elon will now take the confidence and momentum from this win in which to allow it to translate into this matchup versus a Drexel team that is simply awful on both sides of the ball. In fact, The Dragons have lost three of their last five home games, overall, leading into this matchup.

Drexel Dragons's Latest Performance :

The Drexel Dragons are shooting at a 40% clip on a nightly basis in 2018 while also putting up an average of 79.4 points per game. During their four-game losing streak, currently, the offense for the Dragons are only putting up 74 points per game as they would go over the 80-point mark in only one of these outings. On the other hand, the defense for Drexel has been simply awful as they have allowed teams to shoot 49% on the year while also putting up an average of 79.6 points per game. In fact, in the last seven outings for Drexel, their opponents scored at least 80 points in each game, resulting in a 2-5 record.

In their last outing versus the Pride of Hofstra, the Dragons simply did not have it as they went down at the half by a 20-point deficit. For the game, the visitors shot 45% from the floor while allowing a tad over 60% shooting to the Pride while also allowing them to connect on 8 of 19 three-pointers as Justin Wright Foreman was responsible for five of these long balls as he ended with 34 points to lead the team, as stated. Desure Buie also chipped in 15 points along with 10 rebounds for Hofstra in the much-needed victory.

On the other hand, Drexel committed 13 turnovers on the night as their leading scorer, Troy Harper, had four of those attending the game with 22 points along with five rebounds and four assists. Alihan Demir also chipped in 15 points along with five rebounds for Drexel in what was their seventh loss in 10 games, total. The Dragons will certainly look to right the ship in this matchup versus the Phoenix of Elon as the visitors have certainly had their fair share of offensive troubles in 2018. And while their defense remains to be the tip of the spear in their overall success this season, the defense for Elon continues to allow teams to average close to 78 points per game.

How Elon Phoenix & Drexel Dragons Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Elan is 5-8 against the spread while the OU is  6 – 7

Drexel is  7 – 7 against the spread while the OU is  6 – 8

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

This will certainly be an interesting matchup as the Phoenix will be looking to pick up a win on the road, where they are losers of two of their last three overall, versus a Drexel Dragons team that continues to struggle throughout the year. And while both teams are shooting at a decent percentage from the floor, their offenses have suddenly went stagnant, recently. With that being the case, one should certainly expect an up-and-down contest amongst these two teams as they each will certainly be looking to come out of their current offensive funk.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Elon Phoenix

My reason for the pick :

I will certainly back the Phoenix in this matchup as I have little to no confidence that Drexel will put in the type of performance that will be conducive in them picking up a win in this contest. In fact, Drexel ranks as one of the worst defensive teams in college basketball as this will certainly be illustrated versus an Elon team that shoots very decent from the floor. With that being the case, look for the Phoenix to pull away at some point in this game while picking up a convincing victory over a lifeless Drexel Dragons squad on the road.

Totals Selection: Pick: Over

My reason for the prediction :

I will back the over in this matchup due to the fact that Drexel’s defense has been so atrocious lately. In other words, look for Elon to have a decent night on the offensive end of the floor while coming out of a recent funk as well as they well push the pace constantly early on in which to gain an advantage while also picking up early points in transition. In all, look for the over to be the strong play this matchup as the scoreboard will certainly swelled in favor of the visitors in contest on Thursday night.
