Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
St. Josephs Hawks vs St. Bonaventure Bonnies
The St Joseph’s Hawks will travel to the Reilly Center in St. Bonaventure, New York, in which to battle the Bonnies of Saint Bonaventure on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. St. Bonaventure find themselves within the cellar of the Atlantic 10 conference as they are losers of five straight games with their last being at the hands of the Patriots of George Mason on the road as the Patriots were able to build upon a three-point halftime lead in which to outscore the Bonnies 40-27 in the second half en route to the victory.
On the other hand, the Hawks of Saint Josephs also find themselves within the cellar of the conference as they are losers of three of their last five, overall, while also currently being losers of two straight games as they suffered a defeat versus the Colonels of George Washington at home in their last time out. The Hawks actually took a seven-point lead at the half in this contest yet were outscored by George Washington in the second half by a margin of 45 – 24 while they also obtained 23 points from Terry Nolan Jr and the victory.
St. Josephs Hawks's Latest Performance :
In their last outing versus the George Washington Colonels at home, the St Joseph’s Hawks were relegated to only 56 points on the night on 32% shooting as they could only make good on five of 28 3-point attempts on the night as leading scorer Charlie Brown jr., ended the game going 2-6 in this area while putting in 20 points along with pulling down six rebounds to lead the team while Jared Bynum along with Taylor Funk were the only other double-digit scorers for the team as they chipped in 12 and 11 points, respectively.
The defense certainly got back to form in this matchup as they allowed only 41% shooting to George Washington for the night while they were horrible from three-point range as well in going 5-22 for the night. As stated, Nolan Junior provided a spark for the team with 23 points while Justin Mazzulla along with Maceo Jack had 13 and 12 points for the Colonels slightly outrebounded the Hawks in this contest while also making 19 of 22 free throws on the night.
St Joseph’s now look to face yet another defensive-minded team that is only allowing opponents to shoot at a 42% clip on a nightly basis, yet has allowed 80 or more points in three of their last five games, overall.
St. Bonaventure Bonnies's Latest Performance :
The defense for the Bonnies have been the tip of the spear of their success in 2018 as their defense has allowed opponents to shoot only 42% from the floor on a nightly basis while teams are putting up an average of 67 points per game during this time. Nonetheless, during their current five-game losing streak, the defense for Saint Bonaventure has allowed opponents to score 80 or more points three times while teams are averaging 72 points.
Nonetheless, the real problem for the Saint Bonaventure Bonnies throughout the season has been their severe lack of offense, as they are only shooting 43% from the floor on a nightly basis while putting up an average of 66 points per game. Despite this, they have regressed to the tune of averaging just 56 points per game during their current losing streak while not reaching the 60-point mark in each of the last three outings, overall.
They shot 39% in the last outing versus the Patriots of George Mason while allowing the home team to connect on 44% of their shots on the night as Justin Kier along with Otis Livingston II led the team with 17 and 15 points, respectively. On the other hand, leading scorer for the season Kyle Lofton ended with 17 points along with six assists to lead the Bonnies in scoring while Courtney Stockard ended with 16 points along five rebounds. Saint Bonaventure will certainly be looking to get back on the winning track in this contest, however, the Hawks have been much more efficient on the defensive end of the floor in 2018 as they are allowing only 42% shooting on a nightly basis.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:
This will certainly be an interesting Atlantic 10 Conference matchup as each team will be looking to obtain a win in which to garner up some momentum, moving forward. As stated, each team is started off their conference schedule on horrendous notes and will be looking to right the ship in this contest. Of course, both of these teams are very defensive-minded and will be looking to assert themselves early and often on this side of the floor. On the other hand, they will also be looking to get their offenses kick started, yet again, as each are in a huge lull at this point in the season.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: St Joseph's Hawks
My reason for the pick :
I will hold my nose and pick the Saint Josephs Hawks in this contest in which to come out with a much-needed victory as they have won 3 of their last four home games, overall, St Bonaventure has lost two of their last three games to wear their opponent averaged 78 points per loss. In all, look for this to be an ugly, low-scoring contest amongst two anemic offenses. Yeah, the Hawks will find ways to get critical baskets late in the game in which to pull away and pick up the much-needed conference victory.
Totals Selection: Pick: Under
My reason for the prediction :
I will back the under in this contest as the defenses for these teams will take center stage vs. two offenses that cannot find the bottom of the basket these days. With that being the case, look for this to be a very competitive yet low-scoring contest where the total will certainly not surpass its set limit due to both offenses continuing to struggle for yet another contest.
