Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Vanderbilt Commodores vs Georgia Bulldogs

The Vanderbilt  Commodores will visit Stegeman Coliseum in Athens, Georgia, to battle the Georgia Bulldogs in an SEC Showdown on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. And while both teams have  had decent seasons thus far in 2018, they certainly begin their SEC slate on a negative note as they both picked up losses in their prior outings as the Georgia Bulldogs fell to the Tennessee Volunteers on the road as they were destroyed in the first half by the third-ranked team in the nation as they fell down by a 53-24 score at the break while ending the game allowing 53% shooting from the floor for the Volunteers while Tennessee also outrebounded the road team by a whopping 40 – 9 margin for the game.

On the other hand, the Vanderbilt Commodores trailed by 10 points to the Ole Miss Rebels to begin their SEC Conference schedule as Mississippi was able to pull away late in the second half due to 49% shooting on the night along with 31 points from Breein Tyree, who went 3-5 from three-point range while going 11-16 from the floor for the  Rebels in the victory.

Vanderbilt Commodores 's Latest Performance :

While the Commodores have only four losses on the season, their lost to the Mississippi Rebels in their last outing relegated them to the cellar of the conference as they were not able to hold on the defensive end as the Rebels  pulled away late in the game while outscoring the home team by a 46-39 margin en route to the victory. As stated, Mississippi shot 49% from the floor while holding the Commodores to just 40% shooting on the night as Simisola Shittu led the team with 21 points while pulling down nine rebounds while Joe Toye  finished with 12 points in addition to seven rebounds as they were the only two double-digit scores for Vanderbilt.

And while Ole Miss committed 12 turnovers on the night, they outrebounded the Commodores by a 35-31 margin while also dishing out 21 assists as a team to get the victory. In other words, their last outing was certainly a drop off from their overall performances in their last two outings, for instance, as during these games, the Commodores averaged over 90 points while the defense allowed just 67 points. Nonetheless, while Vandy certainly took a step back versus the Rebels, look for them to bounce back in this matchup versus a Georgia team that was also dominated in their last outing as well. In all, look for both teams to fight tooth and nail in which to come up with the huge conference victory on Wednesday night.

Georgia Bulldogs 's Latest Performance :

The  highly-ranked Tennessee Volunteers simply destroyed the Georgia Bulldogs in their last outing as the third-ranked team in the country was able to control the pace early on versus the visitors by posting 53 points in the first half, as stated. Georgia, on the other hand, struggled throughout the first half as well as  during the contest, in general, as they shot a dismal 34% from the floor while making good on just one of 19 3-point attempts on the night as Derek Ogbeide was the only double-digit scorer for Georgia as he ended with 17 points while going 6-9 from the floor.  Leading scorer for the season in Jordan Harris went 0-4 on the night while ending the game scoreless in addition to also having two turnovers.

Tennessee, on the other hand, shot 53% from the floor while nailing 6 of 18 3-point attempts as they possessed five double-digit scorers led by Jordan Bowden, who ended the game going 8-13 from the floor while leading the team with 20 points off the bench while Admiral Schofield also chipped in 18 points along with six rebounds in yet another victory. Georgia may indeed have an opportunity in which to come out of their offensive funk versus a Vanderbilt team that is fresh off allowing their last opponent to score 81 points. Nonetheless, the Bulldogs are fully aware that Vanderbilt, for the season, is only allowing opponents shoot 40% from the floor on a nightly basis.

How Vanderbilt Commodores & Georgia Bulldogs Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Vanderbilt is 5-8 against the spread while the OU is 5 – 6

Georgia is 9 – 4 against the spread while the OU is  6 – 7

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

This will be an interesting match-up amongst  two Southeastern Conference teams that will be looking to pick up a much-needed victory. Also, after two lackluster performances on the offensive end, look for Vanderbilt and Georgia to push the pace in this matchup in which to kick-start their offenses. In all, look for both defenses to assert themselves early and often as they are each coming off losses to where they allowed teams to score 80 or more points.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:   Vanderbilt Commodores

My reason for the pick :

I will back Vanderbilt in this contest, despite the Bulldogs winning for the last 5 home games, due to the fact that the offense for Vanderbilt has been a bit more consistent than that of the Georgia Bulldogs for much of the season. More specifically, the Georgia Bulldogs are allowing a tad over 80 points per game in their last two outings while the Commodores have scored 80 or more points in three of their last five games, overall. With that being said, look for the Commodores to have some issues early in this matchup however, will gain some momentum at some point while pulling away from a Georgia Bulldogs team that continues to suffer from lack of efficient offensive output on a nightly basis.

Totals Selection: Pick: Under

My reason for the prediction :

The under has been the play in five of the last seven games for the Georgia Bulldogs while also being the result in four of the last six games, overall, for the Vanderbilt Commodores. I certainly expect these trends to continue as the Georgia offense will certainly struggle versus a Vanderbilt defense that has allowed 70 points or less in four of their last six games, overall. On the other hand, while Vanderbilt will certainly put some points on the board throughout this contest, they will  have their fair share of issues as well on the offensive end. Nonetheless, expect the under to be the strong play in this contest as both defenses will take center stage in a hotly-contested Southeastern Conference matchup on Wednesday night.

Betting trends for Vanderbilt Commodores :

  • The Commodores are 1-3 against the spread in their last four games

  • The under is 5 – 2 in, doors last seven games

Betting trends for Georgia Bulldogs :

  • The Bulldogs are 6 in 1 against the spread in the last 7 games

  • The under is 4 – 1 in Bulldogs last five games
