Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Marquette Golden Eagles vs Creighton Bluejays

The 18th ranked Marquette Golden Eagles will travel to CHI Health Center Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska, to battle the Creighton Bluejays on Wednesday night at 7 pm EST.  The Bluejays Recently halted a three-game winning streak as they suffered a loss on the road to the Butler Bulldogs in their last outing as they were severely outshot by the Bulldogs as they allowed 53% shooting to the home team while Butler also connected on 11 3-pointers on the night. On the other hand, Creighton was only allowed to shoot 45% from the floor while making good on only 7 of 27 three-point attempts on the night.

Marquette has one nine of their last 10 games as they atoned for a loss to the Red Storm of St John’s in their prior outing in which to pick up a win versus the Xavier Musketeers in their last outing as their  defense was in rare form as they allowed their opponents to shoot just 31% from the floor while making good on just one of 14 attempts from three-point range. On the other hand, Marquette was able to connect on 10 three-pointers on the night as they were led by Markus Howard with 26 points.

Marquette Golden Eagles 's Latest Performance :

The last road matchup for the Marquette Golden Eagles was against the St John’s Red Storm as they fell by one point in the prior outing before matching up with the Xavier Musketeers. Nonetheless, as stated, Marquette was able to get back on the right track with a much-needed victory as they  dominated the Musketeers in every way, despite shooting just 42% from the floor on the night as Markus Howard ended with 26 points along with eight rebounds while Saca Anim chipped in 20 points while pulling down seven rebounds in the meantime as the Golden Eagles were also able to make good on 11 3 pointers for the night.

On the other hand, the defense for Marquette held Xavier to only 31% shooting as they only went 1-14 from three-point range  for the contest with Naji Marshall along with Paul Scruggs being the only double-digit scorers for the team with 21 and 17 points, respectively.

In all, the offense for Marquette has been off the charts as they have scored 80 or more points in three of their last five games, overall. In addition to this, the defense, aside from allowing 89 points to St John’s in a loss, has allowed opponents under 70 points in four of their last six games.

Creighton Bluejays's Latest Performance :

Creighton’s offense grinding to a halt in their last outing versus the Butler Bulldogs on the road as they were only able to muster 69 points while allowing 84 points to a Bulldogs team that maintained control of the pace of the game throughout. The Bulldogs hopped out to a 48-29 halftime lead and cruised to victory behind 28 points, seven rebounds, in addition to five assists from their leading scorer Kamar Baldwin, who went 11-16 from the floor on the night.  And while Butler was able to shoot over 53% for the game while connecting on 11 3-pointers, they held the Blue Jays to just 45% shooting from the floor while permitting them to connect on just seven three-pointers  as Martin Krampelj led the team with 16 points along with eight rebounds while Mitch Ballock also chipped in 13 points in the lost for Creighton.

Finally, the Bluejays would certainly able to get to the free-throw line as they went 16-24 in this area while also outrebounding the Bulldogs by a 33-30 margin; However, committed 14 turnovers on the night, which proved to be their ultimate undoing. They seek to get back on the right track versus top-ranked Marquette as the Golden Eagles will be looking to continue their winning ways on the road, where they have not perform well in only two games this season.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

This will certainly be an interesting Big East matchup as Marquette will like to continue their success versus a Bluejays team that was destroyed in their last matchup vs the Butler Bulldogs. Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Marquette Golden Eagles

My reason for the pick :

As stated, while Creighton will certainly come out with focus in this matchup, look for Marquette to take control of this game in which to pull out a much-needed conference victory on Wednesday night  due to their ability to consistently and effectively push the ball in which to gain buckets in transition and / or get to the free-throw line frequently. This philosophy will certainly benefit them throughout the contest as they will maintain control while pulling out a convincing victory over a Bluejays team that will lose its second straight.

Totals Selection: Pick: Under

My reason for the prediction :

While one should certainly look for Marquette to put some points on the board in this matchup, one should also look for the Creighton defense to step up a bit more as they have played well as of late. On the other hand, expect the Golden Eagles to assert themselves on the defensive end early and often in this contest in which to limit offensive opportunities for their opponents. In all, the under is indeed the strong play as it will certainly be a highly competitive and low scoring contest.

Betting trends for Marquette Golden Eagles :
