Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Pacific Tigers vs Gonzaga Bulldogs
The Gonzaga Bulldogs return home to the McCarthey Athletic Center for their 6th consecutive home game where they will play host to the Pacific Tigers in a WCC matchup, the opening tipoff is slated for 11:00 PM. Gonzaga is currently the 5th ranked team in the country and is penciled as a favorite to win the National Championship while Pacific is another WCC team who is currently 0-2 in conference play.
Pacific Tigers's Latest Performance :
The Pacific Tigers have not had a winning season in conference play ever since they joined the WCC back in 2013 which also happens to be the last time they made the NCAA Tournament. Pacific may not be breaking any trends this season as they have already started WCC play with a 0-2 record with their latest loss coming against San Diego 73-64. Despite the Tigers losing, they were able to receive a big outing from an unlikely source as junior forward Jahlil Tripp dropped 24 points and grabbed 5 rebounds, Tate is a 10+ PPG scorer but he is only the 3rd leading scorer with 11.4 PPG and 6.5 RPG. The Tigers top scorer in senior guard Roberto Gallinat has been coming off the bench over the last few games and it has paid off as he averages 15.3 PPG, Gallinat was able to drop 19 points off the bench. Joining Gallinat in the backcourt is sophomore guard Lafayette Dorsey and he was able to contribute 15 points of his own against San Diego, Dorsey averages 12.4 PPG. A major reason that the Tigers were unable to win is because Anthony Townes and Ajare Sanni were unable to score any points. These two guys aren’t scoring juggernauts by any means but Townes averages 9.6 PPG and 5.7 RPG while Sanni averages 9.8 PPG. The Tigers have some talent to pick up wins in the WCC but they will be unable to match the skill of Gonzaga, San Francisco, and Saint Mary’s.
Gonzaga Bulldogs's Latest Performance :
The Gonzaga Bulldogs won’t only be seeking their 21st consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance but they are looking to win the National Championship something that hasn’t been done in program history. The Bulldogs were able to continue their dominance in the WCC opener as they welcomed in the Santa Clara Broncos and won 91-48. Gonzaga has a ton of scoring depth as they have 4 different guys who average double-digit scoring which makes them dangerous on any given night. Leading the way for the Bulldogs in their blowout win was no other than junior forward Rui Hachimura as he dropped 25 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Hachimura has put together a case for POY as the junior from Japan enters this matchup averaging 21.4 PPG and 6.4 RPG. Joining Hachimura in the frontcourt junior Brandon Clarke and we saw him have a solid game with 16 points and 6 rebounds, Clarke has been a force on the boards this season as he averages 8.1 RPG but he also averages 17 PPG. The top guard for the Bulldogs is sophomore Zach Norvell as he averages 16.2 PPG, 4.4 RPG, and 3.7 APG but he was unable to find the bottom of the net against the Broncos as he only contributed 5 points. The Bulldogs have only got scarier heading into conference play as they return a top scoring weapon in junior Killian Tillie who averaged 12.9 PPG during his sophomore season.

Against The Spread Selection: Gonzaga Bulldogs
My reason for the pick :
I am assuming this spread will be close to -40 and I am here to back that as Pacific simply can’t hang around with the 5th ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs on the road. Sure the Tigers may have 1 or 2 guys who can be role players for the Zags but Gonzaga is as deep as any team in the nation and given that they return Killian Tillie it makes them that much dangerous. Rui Hachimura is a matchup nightmare for any team in college basketball and given the fact that Pacific doesn’t have a deep frontcourt they will run into foul trouble and be forced to play a small ball lineup. Gonzaga will take advantage of Pacific down low as they will score at will and destroy the rebounding battle.
Betting trends for Pacific Tigers:
- Pacific is 1-4 ATS as a road underdog this season.
Betting trends for Gonzaga Bulldogs:
- Gonzaga is 11-3 ATS as a favorite this season.
