Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Stanford Cardinal vs Washington State Cougars

The Stanford Cardinal will travel to Beasley Coliseum- Washington State University in Pullman, Washington, to battle the Washington State Cougars on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Both teams are entering this matchup with extended losing streaks; However, the Stanford Cardinal was able to halt a current four-game skid as they were able to pick up a home win over the Arizona State Sun Devils in their last outing. In this game, Stanford’s dismal offense suddenly awakened in shooting 53% from the floor on the night while holding the Sun Devils to just 41% as the home team pulled away in the second half in outscoring Arizona State 45-33 en route to the much-needed victory.

On the other hand, the Washington State Cougars have simply been horrible on both ends of the floor as they are losers of six straight games with their last being against the Utah Utes on the road as their offense was able to muster just 24 points at the conclusion of the first half while allowing 44 points to the Utes. Furthermore, the Cougars allowed 55% shooting to Utah on the night while their offense connected on just 38% of their field goals as they have allowed 80 or more points in their last three outings, overall.

Stanford Cardinal's Latest Performance :

Stanford was able to grind out a hard-fought victory at home versus the Arizona State Sun Devils for a huge conference victory in their last time out as they shot a tad over 53% from the floor on the night, as stated, while also connecting on 9 three-pointers as Leading scorers, KZ Okpala along with Oscar Da Silva led the team with  21 points apiece while also being responsible for six 3-pointers on the night. Daejon Davis also chipped in 13 points while pulling down eight rebounds in the win for Stanford as well.

On the other hand, Lugentz Dort led Arizona State with 16 points while going 6-11 from the floor while Rob Edwards along with Kimani Lawrence chipped in 13 and 10 points, respectively, in defeat for the Sun Devils as they continue to remain in fifth place within the Pac-12. Stanford will certainly be looking to build from this momentum in which to erect themselves from a rough patch of play to which they have lost 4 of 6, overall. Of course, they will need their defense, which has allowed opponents 43% shooting outing this season, to really step up in which to neutralize an already inconsistent offense for the Cougars that will  likely be shorthanded on Saturday afternoon.

Washington State Cougars 's Latest Performance :

Without their leading scorer on the season in Robert Franks sidelined with a hip injury, the Washington State Huskies offense have simply been non-existent recently in averaging just 67 points per game during their current six-game losing streak. Of course, the Cougars went slightly above this average as they put up 70 points in their last outing on the road versus the Utah Utes as they shot 35% from the floor while putting up just 24 points in the first half. Of course, their output early on certainly doomed their fate in the end as the Utes posted 44 points in the first half while cruising to victory in the second stanza due to their ability to shoot 55% while also permitting the home team to convert 9 of 24 3-point attempts in the victory.

In all, Utah pass at six double-digit scores on the night with Timmy Allen leading the team with 15 points while Both Gach chipped in a critical 14 points off the bench for Utah as well. CJ Elleby led Washington State in scoring with 21 points on the night while Isaiah Wade finished with 12 points in addition to pulling down seven rebounds for a Cougar squad that hit the 70-point mark for the first time in the last three outings.

In all, one should certainly look for Washington State to continue to struggle as long as Franks continue to be on the injured list. On the other hand, they may indeed have a bit of success at home versus a Stanford Cardinal team that has struggled on both ends of the floor as well, particularly on the offensive side of the floor. Nonetheless, with Washington State also allowing teams to shoot 46% from the floor on a nightly basis this season, it could very much be that Stanford may also be in for a solid night, as well.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

As stated, Stanford will be looking to continue their recent momentum by building off a huge conference victory over Arizona State in their last outing at home. On the other hand, Washington State will simply be looking to get a win, by any means necessary, in which to stop their current bleeding, so to speak. With that being said, look for both teams to push the pace in this matchup constantly as they will be looking to gain some easy buckets within transition throughout the contest in which to kick-start their dismal offenses. In all, look for this to be an exciting and possibly high scoring matchup to where momentum will shift back and forth.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Stanford Cardinal

My reason for the pick :

I will back Stanford in this matchup as they seem to be a bit more consistent at this point in the season,  despite having their fair share of issues on both sides of the floor. The fact is that Washington State is in much worse shape at this point in time as their star player continues to ride the bench due to injury while they continue to struggle on the offensive end due to his absence. In all, expect the headaches to continue for the Washington State Cougars as Stanford will assert themselves on the defensive end of the floor early and often in which to tame the offense for Washington State throughout while picking  up their second straight conference victory on Saturday.

Totals Selection: Pick: Over

My reason for the prediction :

The over has been the call in three of the last four road games for the Stanford Cardinal while also being the play in not only the last three home games for the Washington State Cougars, but, in nine of their last 10 games, overall. With that being said, look for the trends to continue in this matchup as both offenses will push the pace in which to gain easy scores in transition throughout the contest, thus allowing for the total to be surpassed at some point.

Betting trends for Stanford Cardinal:
