Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
UCLA Bruins vs USC Trojans
The UCLA Bruins will travel to Galen Center in Los Angeles, California, for a Pac-12 Showdown on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. eastern standard time versus the USC Trojans. After winning four straight games, the Trojans have hit a rough patch recently as they are losers of their last two outings in recently falling to the Oregon Ducks on the road by 21 points as the Trojans simply did not have it on offensive end of the floor as they shot just 42% on a night while allowing 50% or better from the field as well as from three-point range for the Ducks in the blowout loss.
On the other hand, the UCLA Bruins halted a three-game winning streak in their last outing versus the Oregon State Beavers on the road as the UCLA offense, which came into the game averaging a tad over 90 points per game during their winning streak, was relegated to just 66 points for the contest on 32% shooting from three-point range while finishing at 38%, as a team, from the perimeter in the loss.
UCLA Bruins's Latest Performance :
A once red-hot UCLA team shot just 38% from the field versus Oregon State in their last outing while also connecting on just 32% of their 3-point attempts in a huge loss in their last time out. Kris Wilkes went 8-22 from the floor on the night while also going 4-11 from three-point range while leading the team with 22 points in the loss while Prince Ali along with Jaylen Hands also chipped in 13 and 12 points, respectively, as UCLA won the rebounding battle in this matchup yet were not able to rebound from committing 13 overs on the night while shooting just 47% from the free throw line.
Of course, the 62-point offensive output for the Bruins was very unusual for a squad that put up at least 80 points during their three-game winning streak. However, UCLA will seek to also get back on the winning track as soon as possible versus a USC squad that has allowed opponents to score an average of 80 points per game during their current two game losing streak. Nonetheless, the Trojans continue to allow opponents to shoot just 40% from the floor on a nightly basis for the year.
USC Trojans's Latest Performance :
After a confidence inducing four-game winning streak, the USC Trojans have regressed a bit in losing their last two outings, with their last being versus the struggling Oregon Ducks on the road as Oregon was able to pick up the huge blowout victory behind over 50% shooting both from the field as well as from three-point range while also getting 19 points each from Paul White along with Luis King. In addition to this, King also pulled down eight rebounds while dishing out six assists in the much-needed victory for what was indeed a slumping Oregon squad.
On the other hand,The Trojans went just 5-18 from three-point range on the night while shooting a dismal 42% on the night as Jonah Mathews along with Bennie Boatwright combined to go 10-22 from the field while ending with 15 and 13 points, respectively. Furthermore, Matthews along with Boatwright combined to go just 4-11 from three-point range in the loss. Finally, Oregon won the rebounding battle in this contest and, despite committing 12 turnovers on the night, was able to force 11 turnovers from the Trojans in which to pick up the much-needed conference victory.
Nonetheless, the USC Trojans, despite the loss, remain in 6 place within the Pac-12 and will certainly be looking to pick up a victory as soon as possible in which to get back on the winning track. Nonetheless, they will now face a UCLA team that is coming off of a winning streak of its own despite having suffered a setback vs Oregon State on the road in their last outing.
How UCLA Bruins & USC Trojans Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
UCLA is 7 – 10 ATS while the OU is 8 – 9
USC is 7 – 10 ATS while the OU is 10 – 8
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
This will certainly be an interesting Pac-12 matchup on Saturday as both these teams will be looking to get back on the winning track after huge setbacks within conference in their last outings. On one hand, UCLA will certainly like to get their offenses kick started early and often versus a USC defense that has been non-existent, recently. On the other hand, USC will be looking to assert themselves on the defensive end as they have allowed at least 79 points to each of their last three opponents. It would also be important to note that the Bruins are losers in two of their last three road games, overall, while the Trojans are undefeated in their last four home games at Galen Center.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: USC Trojans
My reason for the pick :
I will back the Trojans to get back on track in this matchup vs a UCLA team due to their ability to push the pace consistently and effectively on the offensive end. Of course, this philosophy will certainly benefit them in getting the victory in the end. And while I feel as though the Bruins will bring the focus and intensity for this all-important conference matchup, look for the Trojans to show and prove on the defensive end of the floor late in which to neutralize UCLA’s dangerous offense.
Totals Selection: Pick: Over
My reason for the prediction :
The over has been the play in three of the last four games, overall, for the USC Trojans while also being the result in three of the last four games for the UCLA Bruins as well. Expect these trends to continue in this contest as it will be a fast-paced, up and down game from start to finish to where both offenses will have ample opportunities in which to put points on the board throughout.
Betting trends for UCLA Bruins:
- The Bruins are 3-1 against the spread in last 4 games
The over is 5 – 2 in Bruins last seven games
Betting trends for USC Trojans:
- The Trojans are 1-3 against the spread in last 4 games
The over is 3 – 1 in Trojans last four games
