Iowa State vs Kansas Jayhawks
The impressive, yet, unranked Iowa State Cyclones will travel to Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kansas, to face the 9th ranked team in the nation in the Kansas Jayhawks on Monday night at 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The Jayhawks enter this matchup winners of three straight games as they certainly did a great job in atoning for their last loss, which happened to be versus the Cyclones on January 5th. In their last outing, however, they were able to edge the Texas Longhorns by two points at home due to allowing the visitors to convert on just 42% of their shots on the night while the Jayhawks were able to convert on 50% of their shots both from the field as well as from three-point range in the victory.
On the other hand, the Iowa State Cyclones have had an impressive season, as stated, and were able to halt a two game losing streak in their last contest versus the Texas Tech Red Raiders on the road as they were able to neutralize an already inconsistent offense for the Red Raiders while shooting just 43% from the floor in the victory. Marial Shayok along with Michael Jacobson led the team with 20 and 14 points, respectively, in the win.
Iowa State's Latest Performance :
Iowa state is certainly in the thick of things in the Big 12 this season as they are ranked third in the conference, overall, and have won their last two outings after a huge victory over the Oklahoma State Cowboys in their last time out. This game got out of hand early as the dismal offense for Iowa State awakened early and often as they scored 40 points in the first half while cruising to victory in the second behind just 40% shooting from the floor. Yet, they were able to convert on 10 three-pointers on the night.
As stated, Shayok led Iowa state with 20 points while Lindell Wigginton ended with fourteen points as he went 4-7 from long range. Oklahoma State shot 41% from the floor while converting on just seven of 28 3-point attempts as they were led by Cameron McGriff with 17 points while Lindy Waters III provided a lift with 14 points in defeat.
The Cyclones have won two of their last three road games, overall, as their offense averaged just 69 points during these outings. Nonetheless, the key to the success for Iowa State has been their defense as in their last three road games, the Cyclones have allowed just an average of 66 points. Finally, the last two road wins for Iowa state was by an average of just five points.
Kansas Jayhawks's Latest Performance :
Despite shooting 47% from the floor, the Kansas Jayhawks were awful from long range in their last outing as they connected on just 5 of 16 3-point attempts on the night while also committing a whopping 18 turnovers to an aggressive West Virginia defense as the home team certainly picked up a much-needed victory, as a resut. The defense for Kansas allowed just 42% shooting on the night, however, the Mountaineers received a huge lifts off the bench from Derek Culver along with James Bolden who ended with 12 and 11 points, respectively, while Jermaine Haley led the team with 13 points, total. Leading scorer for the season, Dedric Lawson, had 15 points for Kansas in the loss as he also pulled down 11 rebounds as well. Marcus Garrett also pumped in 15 points for the Jayhawks while having a whopping seven turnovers. In addition to this, the only other double digit scorer on the night was Lagerald Vick who had 13 points, total.
Despite the loss, Kansas remains in the first place spot within the Big 12 Conference; Yet, they have little to no room for error as Texas Tech, who suffered a loss to Iowa State in their last outing, is hot on their heels. Fortunately for Kansas, they have won their last six games at Allen Fieldhouse. Nonetheless, their last three home wins for the Jayhawks were by an average of just six points.

Kansas is 8 – 9 ATS while the OU is 10 – 6
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
Look for both teams to bring their A-game in this all-important Big 12 contest on Monday night as the Jayhawks will be looking to get back on the winning track after a deflating lost to the Mountaineers while Iowa state will certainly look to continue their success in potentially winning their second straight game. Kansas has been very dominant at Allen Fieldhouse this year; However, Iowa State has also performed very solid away from home on the season, as well. In all, one should expect a very competitive and possibly low-scoring matchup amongst two teams that will be battling to increase their positioning within the Big 12 Conference.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Iowa State Cyclones
My reason for the pick :
While the Jayhawks are allowing opponents to average less than 70 points per game on just 41% shooting this season, I will back Iowa State in this matchup as well as while their offense can certainly be as dry as dust, at times, their defense has really been exceptional throughout the season. Also, one can expect Iowa State to convert on critical buckets down the stretch in which to turn the tide in this contest at some point, as well. With that being said, look for the road team to show and prove in this contest over a Kansas team that wil continue to be a bit shell-shocked after their loss to the last placed, West Virginia Mountaineers.
Totals Selection: Pick: Under
My reason for the prediction :
I will certainly back the under in this contest considering the defenses for both teams that will be taking the floor in this matchup. The under has been the play in for the last six games for the Kansas Jayhawks while also being the result in five of the last six games, overall, for the Cyclones. With that being the case, look for both defenses to take center stage in what will be a low-scoring affair throughout.

- The under is 4 – 1 in Cyclones last 5 games
Betting trends for Kansas Jayhawks:

- The over is 5-3 in Jayhawks last eight games
