Mississippi State Bulldogs vs Kentucky Wildcats
The 23rd ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs will travel to Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky, on Tuesday night for a 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time showdown with the 14th ranked Kentucky Wildcats. This SEC battle will be amongst two teams that are both coming off multiple game winning streaks as Kentucky won their fourth straight game as they were able to outlast a high-scoring Auburn team on the road in their last time out as Tyler Herro along with Keldon Johnson pumped in 20 points each in the win as the Wildcats shot 54% from the floor on the night. On the other hand, the defense held Auburn to 46% from the floor while the Tigers were able to connect on 13 3-pointers on the night in defeat.
The Mississippi State Bulldogs enter this matchup winners of two straight games as they were able to take out the Vanderbilt Commodores on the road as the Bulldogs went up by 8 points at the half while cruising to victory in the second as their defense allowed just 36% shooting along with 23% shooting from three-point range on the night. On the other hand, the Bulldogs were able to connect on 46% of their shots as Quinndary Weatherspoon led the team with 17 points while pulling down eight rebounds in the win.
Mississippi State Bulldogs's Latest Performance :
And while the offense was not as potent as usual, the Bulldogs shot 46% from the floor in their victory versus the Vanderbilt Commodores in their last time out. On the other hand, their defense was certainly very solid as they allowed just 36% shooting from the floor to Vanderbilt for the night while permitting them to connect on 5 of 19 3-point attempts. To Vanderbilt’s credit, they were able to get to the free-throw line frequently in gracing the line a total of 26 times for the game. Nonetheless, they connected on just 53% of these attempts on the night, which certainly did not bode well for them picking up the win.
Saben Lee along with Aaron Nesmit led the team with 13 and 11 points, respectively, while Quinndary Weatherspoon went 6-12 from the floor while leading the Bulldogs with 17 points. As stated, the defense has been the saving grace for Mississippi State team that is playing pretty shaky at this point in this season. In fact, doing their current two game winning streak, the defense for Mississippi State has allowed just 61 points to opponents. In all, they look to continue this momentum in this matchup vs a Kentucky team that will certainly be entering the matchup with tons of momentum after the recent winning play. It would be important to note that the Wildcats picked up a 13-point victory vs Mississippi State in their last outing on January of 2018.
Kentucky Wildcats's Latest Performance :
The Kentucky Wildcats find themselves hot on the heels of the LSU Tigers in the SEC standings at this point in the season as aefter losing their first SEC contest of the season to Alabama, the Wildcats have rebounded in which to win four straight games as they were able to shoot 54% from the floor in their last outing versus the Auburn Tigers in which to pull out a much-needed victory. As stated, Johnson along with Herro sparked the UK offense throughout the contest as they pumped in 20 points each.
On the other hand, Auburn was a little less explosive for this contest as they shot 45% from the floor while they were as explosive as ever from three-point range in connecting on 13 on the night as Bryce Brown finished with 28 points while going 6-7 from long range.
The while Kentucky certainly started off on a positive note by going up by eight points at the half, Auburn caught fire in the second half and despite a barrage of 3-pointers during this time, were not able to complete the rally in the end as Kentucky was able to seal the victory. The Wildcats now look to battle a Mississippi State team that is also potent on the offensive end in averaging 48% from the field on a nightly basis in 2018-19. Nonetheless, the Bulldogs have hit a lull on offense recently as they are averaging just 73 points in their last three games.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Kentucky Wildcats
My reason for the pick :
With the dominance with which Kentucky has played at home this season, I will certainly back them to pick up a slim victory in this matchup on Tuesday. Of course, one should look for Mississippi State to have a much better game on both ends of the floor; However, Kentucky will hunker down at pivotal points within the game while picking up critical stops versus an offensively potent Mississippi State team. Of course, Kentucky will also convert some critical buckets down the stretch as well in which to seal the victory of the end.
Totals Selection: Pick: Over
My reason for the prediction :
The over has been the play in four the last five games for the Mississippi State Bulldogs. And while the under has been to result in the majority of recent outings for the Kentucky Wildcats, I predict an over game on Tuesday night between these two SEC foes as Mississippi State will certainly look to come out running early and often in this contest as they will be looking to kick-start their offense as soon as possible. As stated, they have struggled mightily recently and will certainly need a lift from their offense in which to keep pace with a Kentucky team that can indeed score the ball. With that being said, look for for both teams that have successful defensive nights in this matchup to where the scoreboard will favor the home team then.
