Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Missouri Tigers vs Arkansas Razorbacks
The Arkansas Razorbacks will certainly be looking to get back on the right track as they will host the Missouri Tigers on the Wednesday night at 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time at Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The Razorbacks have dropped four straight games, with their last being on the road vs the Mississippi Rebels as the Razorback shot just 40% from the floor while allowing 49% shooting to an offensive-minded squad in the Rebels. It will be important to note that the Razorbacks have allowed 80 or more points to their last three opponents.
On the other hand, the Missouri Tigers were able to get back to basics on both ends of the floor in their last matchup versus an offensively challenge team in the Texas A&M Aggies as they were able to shoot 48% from the floor while allowing just 26% from the field in addition to converting just four of 22 attempts from long-range as Jordan Geist was certainly the player of the game for the Tigers as he ended with 17 points while going 4-5 from three-point range in the victory.
Missouri Tigers's Latest Performance :
Missouri entered their matchup with the Aggies of Texas A&M on a three-game losing streak as their inconsistent offense, which averages just 68 points per game on 43% shooting, scored 80 or more points in two of these three outings. Nonetheless, the defense, which is been the tip of the spear in the success for the Tigers throughout the season, regressed to the point where they allowed a tad under 80 points per game to their opponents during this time.
Nonetheless, in their last outing vrsus the Texas A&M Aggies, Missouri was able to clamp down on the defensive end throughout the contest while their offense posted 66 points on 48% shooting from the floor as well as 40% from long range en route to the victory. Jordan Geist along with Jeremiah Tilmon led the team with 17 and 14 points, respectively, while Mark Smith was the only other double-digit scorer for the Rebels with 13 points as he went 3-7 from three-point range in the win.
Fortunately for the Tigers, they were really able to hunker down on the defensive end in allowing a dismal shooting team in the Aggies only 26% shooting on the night while connecting just 4 of 22 3-point attempts as Josh Nebo along with Jay Jay Chandler were the only two double-digit scorers on the night.
With Mizzou now having the monkey off of its back, so to speak, they will certainly want to put in another outstanding performance versus the Arkansas Razorbacks in this contest on Wednesday night. Besides, with outings versus the LSU Tigers along with the Auburn Tigers looming, they will certainly want to be in Tip-Top form in which to faced two dangerous teams in what will certainly be an exciting set of matchups.
Arkansas Razorbacks's Latest Performance :
The Arkansas Razorbacks posed no real threat to a surging Mississippi Rebels team in their last outing as the home team shot 48% from the floor while also taking an 11-point lead at the half en route to the victory. Leading scorer for the season in Breein Tyree scored 22 points for the Rebels in the victory while Terrance Davis also chipped in 18 points as well. On the other hand, Arkansas struggled, yet again, from the floor as they shot 40% on the night as Gabe Osabuohien along with Isaiah Joe led the team with 13 and 11 points, respectively. It will also be important to note that Arkansas was also pounded on the boards in this contest while also committing a whopping 17 turnovers on the night.
And for a team that continues to allow opponents to score just 73 points per game on 40% shooting on a nightly basis, the Arkansas Razorbacks have suddenly regressed on the defensive end of the floor has they have allowed 90 points per game in their last three outings, alone. Combine this with the fact that they are only winners of two of their last six home games, overall, and one will certainly conclude that Arkansas may be in for yet another long night versus a defensive-minded team in the Missouri Tigers on Wednesday night.
How Missouri Tigers & Arkansas Razorbacks Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Missouri is 7 – 8 – 1 ATS while the OU is 7 – 8
Arkansas is 7 – 10 ATS while the OU is 5 – 12
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
Look for Missouri to slow down the place considerably in this contest on Wednesday night versus the Arkansas Razorbacks as this has been their style of play throughout the season. Of course, the Tigers were able to get back to basics in their last outing versus the Aggies of Texas A&M. With that being said, I expect them to be very sharp during this matchup, particularly on the defensive end. On the other hand, Arkansas will look to erect themselves from a rough patch of play recently to where their defense has certainly let them down in allowing 80 or more points to their opponents in their last three outings. Also, the Razorbacks will be looking to play much better at home where they have essentially stunk it up, recently.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Missouri Tigers
My reason for the pick :
Look for Missouri to grind out yet another win in this contest versus an inconsistent Arkansas Razorbacks team that will be desperately looking for a win. Nonetheless, this will not be as Arkansas will not be able to obtain quality looks at the basket on a consistent basis throughout this contest. With that being said, look for the Tigers to ride their defense to yet another victory as the offense will hit critical baskets down the stretch in which to pull away at some point.
Totals Selection: Pick: Under
My reason for the prediction :
While I happen to believe that both teams will put some points on the board throughout this contest, I will certainly look for the under to be the play as the Missouri Tigers defense showed in their last contest that they are back on track on the defensive end of the floor. With that being said, look for the under to be the strong play as it has been the result of three of the last five games for Missouri, overall, while also be the play in eight of the last 10 games for the Razorbacks, as well.
