Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Arizona Sun Devils vs USC Trojans
The USC Trojans are set to return back tot he Galen Center for their 2nd consecutive home game as they will host the Arizona State Sun Devils in a Pac-12 clash, the opening tipoff is slated for 8:00 PM. Arizona State has picked up their play as of recent as they have rattled off 3 straight conference wins to move to 5-2 while USC had a small win streak of their own as they are 4-2 through the early portion of Pac-12 play.
Arizona Sun Devils's Latest Performance :
The Arizona State Sun Devils have looked like the best team in the Pac-12 at times this season as they were once as high as 17th in the AP Poll as well as beat the Kansas Jayhawks at home but consistency has been a major issue for the young Bob Hurley squad. The Sun Devils have finally gotten back on track in Pac-12 play as they are riding a 3 game winning streak into this game with their most recent win coming on Thursday against the UCLA Bruins 84-73. Freshmen guard Luguentz Dort has been the leading scorer all season for the Sun Devils as he averages 16.4 PPG, and he was able to hit that mark against the Bruins with 16 points. The leading rebounder on the season for the Sun Devils has been senior forward Zylan Cheatham as he averages a double-double with 11.9 PPG and 10.2 RPG, and while he only dropped 9 points in their latest outing he had a monster outing on the boards with 20 rebounds. Sophomore guard Remy Martin runs the offense for Bob Hurley and he showed his playmaking abilities against UCLA with 15 points and 11 assists, Martin averages 12.5 PPG and a team-high 4.6 APG. Arizona State was able to receive a big performance from sophomore forward Kimani Lawrence as the Rhode Island native came off the bench and recorded 15 points and 5 assists. The Sun Devils will have to shoot better from behind the arc if they want to win the Pac-12 as they were only able to shoot 26% against the Bruins which isn’t a winning formula.
USC Trojans's Latest Performance :
The USC Trojans are looking to avoid consecutive seasons of missing out of the NCAA Tournament but it looks like the only opportunity for this team will be to win the Pac-12 which is very possible considering there isn’t a clear cut favorite this season. The Trojans have put together a small win streak as they will be looking to extend it to 3 straight games after they blew out the Arizona Wildcats on Thursday 80-57. The Trojans were red hot from behind the arc in this game as they were able to connect on 50% of their shots while also outrebounding the Wildcats 51-39. Junior Nick Rakocevic was able to have one of the biggest games of his career as he recorded a double-double with 27 points and 12 rebounds, Rakocevic averages just shy of a double-double on the season with 15.2 PPG and 9.7 RPG. The leading scorer on the season for the Trojans has been senior forward Bennie Boatwright as he comes into this game averaging 17.3 PPG and 6.4 RPG, and he was able to contribute a double-double himself against Arizona as he had 12 points and 12 rebounds. Freshmen guard Kevin Porter Jr. was one of the top recruits in the nation this past year but he has failed to stay healthy and out of trouble, but the Washington native played against the Wildcats and contributed 14 points off the bench. The top assist guy for the Trojans is junior guard Derryck Thornton as he averages 8.9 PPG and 5 APG, and he was able to hit that mark in their latest outing with 7 points and 5 assists.

Against The Spread Selection: USC Trojans
My reason for the pick :
Both teams have been improved down the stretch of conference games but I will give the advantage to the home team in this one as USC has been very dominating ATS at the Galen Center. USC may have found the success behind their offense as Rakocevic looked to be a force down low against a team that is fairly solid in their frontcourt. Arizona State has an explosive offense themselves but with them being on a road trip and scoring 80+ points in their recent game it makes you wonder if they will have the juice in this one. Kevin Porter Jr. has been a difference maker for this team ever since coming back from his suspension and if the Trojans can keep receiving consistent production out of him you would have to start taking this team serious once again as he is another element to the offense. Take the Trojans to win and cover at home.
