Ball State Cardinals vs Buffalo Bulls
The Ball State Cardinals will visit Alumni Arena in Buffalo, New York, to battle the 14th ranked Buffalo Bulls on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The Bulls continue to man the top seed within the MAC East Division as they were able to atone for a slim, last second loss to the Huskies of Northern Illinois as they took out the Kent State Golden Flashes on the road in their last time out as the Bulls were able to blow open a tie game at the half in which to outscore Kent State 42-32 in the second half en route to the victory. Also, the Bulls were able to get 20 points from both CJ Massinburg along with Nick Perkins while the team also connected on 10 3-pointers while shooting well over 50% from the floor in the victory.
On the other hand, Ball State has lost two straight games along with five of their last six games, overall, as they were not able to keep pace versus the Ohio Bobcats in their last outing as the home team was able to pull away late in the game while also getting huge nights from Jason Carter along with Gavin Block who finished with 16 and 15 points, respectively, while also receiving a huge lift off the bench from Antonio Cowart Jr, who finished with 11 points while going 3-5 from three-point range.
Ball State Cardinals's Latest Performance :
The offense for the Ball State Cardinals have simply not been the same recently as they have had to rely more and more on a defense that is allowing opponents just 41% shooting from the floor on a nightly basis in which to remain competitive within games. In their last outing versus the Ohio Bobcats, the Cardinals were able to post just 74 points on the night, yet were certainly able to shoot much better in going over 50% from the floor while connecting on 10 three-pointers on the night as Tayler Persons led the team with 21 points while dishing out five assists. And while Persons went just 3-7 from three-point range, Kyle Mellors went 2-4 in this area while providing a lift with 10 points in defeat.
Defensively, Ball State allowed just seven 3-pointers on the night to the Bobcats, Despite this. the home team was able to shoot a decent 47% from the floor. Nonetheless, the key stat in this matchup was Ohio’s ability to rebound the ball throughout the contest while also capitalizing on 17 costly turnovers for Ball State. Jason Carter along with Gavin Block led the team with 16 and 15 points, respectively, as the Bobcats currently occupy 5th place within the MAC East. On the other hand, Ball State occupies 5th place within the West division. Unfortunately for the Cardinals, the Bulls have been dominant at home in recent outings, as stated, while the Cardinals are losers of two of their last three road games as each loss was decided by a total of 5 points.
Buffalo Bulls 's Latest Performance :
Buffalo certainly got back into the win column as soon as possible as they overcame a bevy of lapses in the first half through out their contest with the Kent State Golden Flashes in outscoring the home team 45 – 35 in the second half en route to the much-needed victory. CJ Massinburg along with Nick Perkins led the Bulls with 20 points each as they each pulled down eight rebounds while Massinburg went 3-6 from long range. Davonta Jordan along with Dante Carothers also chipped in 12 points each for Buffalo as their offense has scored 88 points in three of their last five outings.
Of course, the Bulls ability to shoot over 50% from the floor while connecting on 10 three-pointers certainly benefited them in picking up the victory in this contest as they were horrible from the free throw line in connecting on just 12-22 on the night while also being outrebounded by the Golden Flashes as well. Nonetheless, Buffalo held Kent State to just 42% shooting from the floor while they made good on just nine of 23 attempts from long-range.
In all, the Bulls seemed to not have much of a drop-off from their last defeat from the Huskies in Northern Illinois. Fortunately for the Bulls, after a three-game set on the road, they now return home, where they are winners of their last three outings with all being blowouts, in which to face a Ball State team that resides within the cellar of the MAC West Division while also losing two straight games along with five of their last six, overall.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:
Look for Buffalo to look to keep rolling in this contest over a Ball State team that has lost their way, from an offensive standpoint. Of course, the Cardinals will certainly bring their defense for this matchup as they have allowed the team to remain competitive while their offense is currently in transition. Nonetheless, expect both teams to look to push the pace as the Bulls will be looking to put some easy points on the board via transition while Ball State will seem to be looking to catch a solid defense for the Buffalo Bulls, which have allowed 71 points per game in their last three home outings to opponents, on is heels throughout the night.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Buffalo Bulls
My reason for the pick :
I will back the Bulls in this contest as they are simply the better team at this point in the season. Furthermore, Ball State has simply struggled on the offensive end a bit too much and will certainly do so in this contest versus a Bulls defense that has been stingy recently as well as throughout the season. In all, expect Buffalo to push the pace constantly in this matchup while allowing their defense to totally neutralize an offense for Ball State that continues to reel at a critical point in this season.
Totals Selection: Pick: Under
My reason for the prediction :
While I have no doubt that Buffalo will put points on the board throughout this contest, I will back the under as it has been the play in two of the last three home games for the Bulls while also being the result in three of the last five road games for the Ball State Cardinals. Also, when considering that the Cardinals will be matched up versus a stingy defense for the Bulls, one has to believe that they will struggle mightily throughout the game, thus allowing the total to not be surpassed when all is said and done.
