Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Alabama Crimson Tide vs O/U 11 wins
Defending National Champions
The Alabama Crimson Tide are entering the 2018 season as the defending national champions and they have continued to make their case heard as the top football school in the nation as they have won 4 titles this decade. Alabama is presented a great position battle as they have 2 QBs fighting for the top spot, will it be the veteran dual-threat Jalen Hurts or the championship savior in Tua Tagovailoa. Nick Saban is arguably one of the best coaches in any level of Football as he has won 6 championships in the collegiate ranks and my guess is he will find a way to implement both QBs into their offense, but I see Tagovailoa taking the full-time role over as he was one of the highly touted recruits back in 2017.
Player To Watch
Brian Robinson, RB, Sophomore
Of course, I could have gone the traditional route and talked about the two-star QBs Saban has on his roster but as we know one of the things Alabama has bred in their championship runs are running backs. Robinson would be a starter at most schools in the country as the 6-1 sophomore was the #7 RB in the 2017 recruiting class but as we know Alabama has been led by three other backs by the name of Damien Harris, Bo Scarborough, and Najee Harris. Robinson saw minimal time in 2017 as the power back only had 26 rushing yards and 59 receiving yards, but the former 4-star recruit should see more time in 2018 as he plays a really similar game to Bo Scarborough (who left) and former Heisman winner Derrick Henry.
Alabama at Ole Miss, September 15th
Alabama plays in the SEC so any road game is tricky for them but the reason that I see Ole Miss as a trap game is due to the way they have played against them in the past. Ole Miss has experienced troubles over the past few years whether that be in the recruitment area or on the field but the one thing they have done positively is split 2 of the 4 meetings with Alabama over the last 4 seasons with one of those losses coming by only 5 points. Alabama starts off the season with a fairly easy path as they will go against a down Louisville team who will be breaking in a new QB and then an Arkansas State team who has no businesses being on the same field as the champions. Ole Miss on the other hand opens up the season against Texas Tech who is a fairly good team and will allow Mississippi to get a feel for their new coach. Ole Miss will be fired up for this challenge as they have overcome all of Hugh Freese drama and they will want nothing more than to put a damper on Alabama’s season.

My reason for the pick :
Yes, I know I sound crazy, but Alabama has lost a ton of key players especially on their defensive side of the ball and Saban has brought in a whole new coaching staff who may take a while to get the ball crazy. Alabama only plays 12 games in the season and one game that I can chalk up as an L is the Auburn game as they should be a front-runner for the SEC this season considering the fact that they are bringing back their star QB and most of their dangerous defense. The other game I can see Alabama losing is the LSU game as they have to travel to Death Valley. LSU always plays Alabama tough as their styles match up well and with the way the Tigers closed out their 2017 season I can definitely see them rebounding and putting themselves in the SEC West title race. Alabama has not gone under the 11 win total since 2010 season and I may sound crazy to say Alabama will lose more than 2 regular season games but Auburn and LSU are hungry for an SEC championship as well as Texas A&M who also plays Alabama this season.
