Over/Under 11 Wins vs Clemson Tigers
The Clemson Tigers year after year has found themselves in the hunt for the national championship as they have one of the best young coaches in the game with Dabo Swinney. Clemson may be replacing 7 of their 22 starters from the 2017 ACC champion team but Swinney has been a recruiting force as he keeps reloading his talent. Swinney has shaped this program into greatness as he isn’t only producing NFL players left and right but he also has a national championship under his belt as he has created an arms race with Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Tigers strong suit this season will reside with their defensive line as every single starter has first-round potential. Swinney made some big-time moves on the recruiting trail this past offseason as he had the #1 class in the ACC and the #7 class in the country with 5 five-star recruits. There can be arguments all over the board in who his best snag of the 2018 recruiting class was but the trophy has to go to the #1 recruit in the nation in QB Trevor Lawerence. Clemson may be tested on the ACC Atlantic division side as Florida State is reloaded and NC State is sneaky good but they should be a favorite for the national championship.
Over/Under 11 Wins's Latest Performance :
Clemson may have gotten crushed in the CFP Semifinals last year by Alabama but they were still really impressive as they won the ACC championship in blowout fashion as well as finished the regular season with an 11-1 record. Clemson returns an abundance of starters as well as brought in some big-time recruits which have oddsmakers setting the over/under at 11 wins.
Easy ACC Schedule
The Clemson Tigers are one of the best teams in college football but they do reside in one of the toughest divisions in football. Luckily for Clemson, they only have one toss-up ACC game with that being a road matchup against rival Florida State. The other ACC road games include Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, and Boston College which should all be blowouts. The one other tough game I see on Clemson’s schedule is their road matchup against Texas A&M who is under construction with Jimbo Fisher at the helm. Clemson will get to pick up easy wins at home against non-conference opponents as they will welcome in FCS Furman as well as Georgia Southern who is coming off a 2-10 season. Overall Clemson has a chance to go undefeated but as we know in College Football you have to come and play every week.
Clemson Tigers's Latest Performance :
As we stated Clemson has the ability to reload their talent year after year and we have a prime example of that this upcoming season as the QB race will be one to tune in for. Kelly Bryant was the head man for the offense of the 2017 ACC champions and he was serviceable as he threw for 2802 yards and rushed for another 665 yards but the Tigers have a good problem as they have an NFL ready QB coming into town. Trevor Lawerence has been argued as one of the best QB prospects in the past decade and the buzz around Clemson is strong as he will lead this team to success for years to come, but it may be too early for the skinny QB to take the head role as he sits at 205 pounds. Clemson won’t have much of a battle at the RB position as they return their top back from 2017 as Travis Etienne enters his sophomore season after rushing for 766 yards and 13 TDs last season. Clemson graduated 2 of their top 3 receivers from 2017 but they return slot Hunter Renfroe who was the hero of the 2016 national championship. The former walk-on should take on a much bigger role in what will be his final season after he posted 600+ yards last season. Dabo won’t have to worry about who will replace the NFL draftees as he was able to keep the #1 recruit in South Carolina in-state as WR Derion Kendrick might see valuable time in his freshmen season. The defense is what Clemson should make their money on especially considering they return an NFL potential lineup. Dabo returns Christian Wilkins, Clelin Ferrell, and Austin Bryant who combined for 42.5 TFL and 23 sacks last season, but the scary part is Dabo brought in two 5-star defensive ends in Xavier Thomas and KJ Henry. Behind the scary defensive line, Clemson returns their tackle leader in Kendall Joseph who compiled over 96 tackles from the inside linebacker spot. The Tigers defense needs to stay healthy this season if they want a crack at the national title as they are the bread and butter for Dabo Swinney.
Player To Watch
Trayvon Mullen, CB, Jr.
We have talked a whole lot about the scary defensive line that Clemson has but the guy who has benefited the most from the ferocious pass rush is defensive back Trayvon Mullen. Mullen enters 2018 after leading the Tigers in interceptions last season with 3 but what is really more important for this upcoming season is the fact he gained experience. Mullen will be the leader of this Tigers secondary and will have to play a big role in making sure the Tigers continue their winning success. Mullen is a tall CB at 6’2 which will have him matchup against some of the better receivers in college football which makes him my player to watch considering he is the top CB this season for the Tigers after sitting years behind talent.

Against The Spread Selection: Push, Lean Under 11 Wins
My reason for the pick :
As much as you want to see an undefeated season from a power 5 school it is highly unlikely as your schedule from week to week is a toss-up. Clemson has a really easy ACC schedule outside their matchup against Florida State which I see as the only possible loss as Florida State always plays Clemson tight and considering the fact that the Tigers have to visit Tallahassee I just don’t see Clemson surviving that game. Clemson is one of the best teams in the nation and they were last year as well but we saw Syracuse upset them at home which tells me that Clemson could be vulnerable again (hence why I am leaning under the total). Clemson also has to travel to Texas A&M as well as host in-state rival Gamecocks which could also be scary games in terms of staying on track towards a perfect season. I have Clemson at the 11 win mark which would push the bet but I would lean under the total if you have to put money on it.
