Southeast Missouri State RedHawks vs Arkansas State Red Wolves
The Southeast Missouri State RedHawks will travel to Centennial Bank Stadium in Jonesboro, Arkansas, on Saturday, 9-1-2018, to take on the Arkansas State Red Wolves beginning at 7 pm EST. On one hand, the RedHawks will be looking to improve upon their miserable 3-8 season in 2017. Nonetheless, there are pieces to the puzzle still there that coach Blake Anderson would love to exploit against their opponents in which to reverse the tide in 2018. On the other hand, Arkansas State will look to improve upon their 7-5 record last year to where they would be rewarded by an invitation to the Camelia Bowl which took place on 12-16-2018 to where they would pick up the 35-30 loss. They will look for much better results this year as they have experience at the QB spot along with other key pieces along with roster that will certainly serve them well throughout the season. The last time these two teams met was in 9-13-2003 when the Red Wolves would get the 21-3 win with no line being posted. In all, look for both teams to attempt to set the tone early in this matchup as this will indeed be a battle in week 1.
Southeast Missouri State RedHawks 's Latest Performance :
Senior QB Anthony Cooper will lead the RedHawks under center for 2018 and while he has not had much experience, it is the hope of the coaches and players that he will improve with each week that passes in which to allow SE Mizzou State to better compete. He will be joined in the backfired by Senior Running back Marquise Terry and Freshman Brayden Hull who hope to crank up the ground game. Receivers Jerrick Orr, Zack Smith, and Krisitan Wilkerson will be their go to targets on the outside for the RedHawks in 2018.
The defensive could certainly get better after their campaign last year as they will also be incorporating news pieces into the D after graduation would hit them hard. Nonetheless, Junior LB Zack Hall will be the lead signal caller for the defense while Devin Alexander will be alongside him. Clarence Thornton along with Junior Devin Herbert will man the defensive line while Junior Al Young will lead a young secondary on defense that looks to also get better as the season progresses.
Arkansas State Red Wolves's Latest Performance :
Senior QB Justin Hanson will return for his final season for ASU as he will look to improve upon his 3967 total passing yards along with 37 TD’s and 16 INT’s in 2017. He will have Senior Running back Warren Wand (715 yards, 138 att, 5 TD’s) alongside him in the backfield. At receiver, he will focus on Junior Omar Bayless (428 yards, 31 rec, 6 TD’s) along with Justin McGinnis (800 yards, 49 rec, 4 TD’s) to stretch the field in 2018 for the Red Wolves. In addition to these targets, Hanson will also have Kendrick Edwards (438 yards, 38 rec, 3 TD’s) at his disposal against the opposition. In all, Arkansas State should give many defenses fits this season with their offensive weapons along with their overall experience.
Their defense will have lost some pieces up front along the defensive line last year, however, Ronheen Bingham (22 tackles, 8 TFL, 5 sacks) and Hunter Moreton (23 tackles, 5.5 TFL, 2 sacks) will hold it down for the Red Wolves with their intensity and experience. Junior Trent Ellis-Brewer (34 tackles, 3.5 TFL) will man the linebacker position for ASU this year while Senior DB Michael Johnson (42 tackles), Justin Clifton (63 tackles, 4.5 TFL) along with Juniors BJ Edmunds (80 tackles, 3 INT’s) and Darreon Jackson (58 tackles, 4 TFL) will certainly wreak havoc in the secondary in 2018 for the Red Wolves, also.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
The RedHawks have indeed fallen off from last year in terms of overall talent, however, they will certainly come to play in this matchup. The Arkansas State Red Wolves will also be looking to avenge their bowl loss last year by picking up a win in which to begin their 2018 campaign. In all, look for a battle to where the Red Wolves may be a bit much for an undermanned team in Southeast Mizzou. The Red Wolves will use this game as an opportunity to establish the numerous weapons around Hanson in which to crank up the offensive intensity early.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Arkansas Red Wolves
My reason for the pick :
I will back the Arkansas Red Wolves in this matchup not only because they are the more experienced and overall talented team, but, because of the RedHawks unveiling almost an entirely different team from last year. It is for this reason that they will certainly need time to gel with each other in game time situations. The Red Wolves D is experienced enough to really limit this SE Missouri State offense and will indeed do so throughout this game. In all, look for a blowout in this game as the Red Wolves will begin 2018 with a bang.
Totals Selection: Pick: Over
My reason for the prediction :
I will pick the over in this instance as Arkansas state will spread the defense of the RedHawks out to where their talented receivers will be matched (one-on-one) with essentially inexperienced talent out wide for SEMO. The result, a bunch of passing yards along with big scores. The line has not been set, however, the over will be a strong play in this instance.
