Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Buffalo Bulls vs Temple Owls

The Buffalo Bulls will travel to Lincoln Financial Field to battle the Temple Owls on 9-8-2018 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, beginning at 3:30 pm EST.  The Bulls will look to extend their winning play from opening weekend when they were 48-10 winners at home over Delaware state as they would not cover the spread as heavy favorites (-44.5) while the under was also the play with total points being set at 63 for the game.  The Temple Owls would lose to their in-city rivals Villanova Wildcats by a slim 19-17 score at home last Saturday as they failed to cover as huge favorites as well (-14.5) while the under was also the play with total runs being set at 39.5 for the game.  The last time these two squads met was on 10-15-2011 when the Owls would get the 34-0 shutout win at home they would cover the spread (-21) while the under was the play with the total being set at 47 points.

Buffalo Bulls's Latest Performance :

The Bulls would dominate their opponent Delaware State as they would put up 200 yards passing along with 154 yards on the ground for 17 first downs in their week 1 win.  Tyree Jackson would go 17 for 27 for 189 yards passing with 6 TD’s.  Jarrett Patterson (9 rush, 34 yds, TD), Jonathan Hawkins (8 rush, 37 yds), and Emmanuel Reed (8 rush, 32 yds) would pace the rushing attack by committee while Anthony Johnson (4 rec, 57 yds, TD), KJ Osborn (3 rec, 54 yds, 2 TD’s), Charlie Jones (2 rec, 23 yards, 1 TD), along with George Rushing (2 rec, 10 yds, 2 TD’s) would lead the receiving corps in what was a passing feast.  The defense would allow 15 first downs total to the Hornets while allowing 76 yards passing, yet, they would give up 200 yards rushing on the day.  Matt Otwinowski would lead the unit in tackles with 4 total with 6 assists while DeShondrick Foxworth would have 3 tackles.  Ledarius Mack would also have a sack for Buffalo in the win.

Temple Owls's Latest Performance :

The Owls would get nothing going on offense against Villanova on Saturday as they would have 205 yards passing alongside 46 yards on the ground.  Frank Nutile would go 18 for 32 with 185 yards along with a TD and 2 INT’s for the game while Ryquell Armstead would have 14 rushes for only 34 yards.  Isiah Wright would lead the receiving corps with 3 rushes for 37 yards and a score while Brandon Mack (7 rec, 78 yds) and Darian Bryant (5 rec, 56 yds) would also step up for the Owls in defeat.  The Owls defense would allow 254 passing yards along with 151 yards rushing on 26 total first downs in the matchup as Shaun Bradley would lead the unit with 7 stops on the day.  Chappelle Russell (6 tackles) and Quincy Roche (5 tackles) would also lead the defense while Michal Dogbe and Roche would have a sack in the loss.

How Buffalo Bulls & Temple Owls Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Temple is 0-1 ATS while the O/U is 0-1

Buffalo is 0-1 ATS while the O/U is 0-1

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

I am not very surprised to see the score for the Buffalo Bulls for opening week, however, I am very surprised that they allowed 200 yards on the ground to Delaware State, nonetheless.  The Owls offense could not get anything going, as stated, in their last time out against Villanova, which leads me to believe that both teams will take the positives from week 1 in which to move on and shore up their deficiencies in preparation for this contest.  This will be an interesting matchup and one that the Owls may need in which to get their offense rolling as it may be a long night for the Bulls defense, who may encounter a motivated, re-focused rushing attack for Temple.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Temple -5

My reason for the pick :

I can certainly understand why the line stands at 5 points at the moment.  The Bulls blew out a heavy underdog in Delaware State while the Owls would drop one to Nova at home as heavy favorites.  There must be some trouble in Philly, right?  The fact is that the Owls certainly had their troubles moving the ball against the Wildcats their last time out, however, with the Bulls defense being slashed for 200 on the ground by a MEAC team in DSU, I would have to believe that this contest will serve to not only get them back on track on the offensive end as it relates to their rushing, but, their passing attack as well.  in all, I will take Temple and the points in this week 2 matchup.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Under

My reason for the prediction :

While Temple will win this matchup, all trends and stats point to this being an under game in that Temple’s offense will need to continue to get better over time while the Bulls offense mainly profited from playing an under-talented Hornets defensive unit last week.  The Owls D will certainly balance things out in this contest on Saturday as both offenses will labor, however, Temple will take advantage of their opportunities in the end.  Nonetheless, look for the under to be the strong play.

Betting trends for Buffalo Bulls:

Betting trends for Temple Owls:

    • The Owls are 5-2 ATS in last 7 games
    • The Owls are 2-4 ATS in last 6 home games
    • The Under is 4-2 in Owls last 6 home games
