How California Bears & BYU Cougars Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
BYU is 1-0 ATS while the O/U is 0-1
Cal is 0-0-1 ATS while the O/U is 0-1
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
BYU is on a high after their last win over the Wildcats in Tucson and would love to extend the momentum into this game against a Cal squad that pulled out a huge victory in their own right versus UNC in opening week. While both offenses did not light it up during week 1, I would have to say that the BYU offense looked very good against Arizona. Mangum certainly played up to expectations and led this team to the victory. Nonetheless, they will be matchup up with a Bears team that only allowed 137 yards passing to UNC last week, which will make this game an interesting one to watch.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: BYU Cougars -3
My reason for the pick :
I happen to believe the Cougars will pull out a win at home versus Cal in week 2 simply due to the way in which their defense has stepped up early along with the play that they are getting from Mangum early. If this continues, the Cougs could be one of the most dangerous teams in college football in 2018. Nonetheless, back BYU in this contest, as they will take control of this game late and control the pace throughout.
Totals Selection: Pick: Under 46.5
My reason for the prediction :
This game will be a battle of will as Cal really took control of the trenches in their last matchup while the Cougars did well also maintaining their composure while controlling the line of scrimmage as well in heir huge week 1 victory. With that being said, each defense, in particular, will be stingy throughout this game as the Cougars look to build off their performance in what was billed as an offensive juggernaut in Arizona to lock down this offense for Cal that is struggling at the QB position. In all, the under will indeed be the strong play for these two squads.
