The Nevada Wolfpack will travel east on Saturday, 9-8-2018, to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores in week 2 college football action from Vanderbilt Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee beginning at 12 pm EST. This will be the first ever meeting amongst these two squads as both come in with a ton of confidence after picking up blowout wins in the opening week. The Wolfpack would be 72-19 winners over Portland State on 9-1-2018 as they would cover the spread -28) while the total was off for this matchup. The Commodores would pick up a 35-7 victory over Middle Tenn. State on last Saturday as they would cash in on the spread as well (-3) while the under was the play with totals being set at 56.5.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:
Here you have a Vandy team that will be looking to build from their last momentum building win over Middle Tenn. last Saturday while the Wolfpack will look forward to the challenge of taking on a more solid opponent from the SEC. This will be an interesting matchup in that both teams essentially had their way with their opponents last week, however, one could expect this to be much more close and competitive. Which team will truly carry their momentum into this matchup in which to get the win remains to be seen, however, both will be looking to control the trenches, nonetheless, as this will be the true key to victory on Saturday.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Vanderbilt Commodores -10
My reason for the pick :
Of course, taking the trip across the country to take on an SEC squad could be taxing for the Wolfpack of Nevada, however, the Pack will come out to play in this matchup as they certainly see an opportunity to win. Middle Tenn. had its chances against Vandy last week, yet, the defense of the Commodores would hold until the offense began to click. In all, I will have to back the Commodores in this matchup as well, however, I will expect their offense to get going much earlier in week 2 against a Nevada defense that will be tried on the defensive end as it relates to how stout they are against the run. Their secondary will also be on the look out for Shurmur and crew as I expect the home team to take control of this game while cruising to victory and covering the 10 points.
Totals Selection: Pick: Under 63.5
My reason for the prediction :
I will back the under in this matchup as both offenses were dismal for a half in their opening matchup. Furthermore, both defenses will certainly come to play as I expect Vandy to come out blazing on the defensive end after their performance last week. Of course, the Wolfpack will be flying on defense as well, thus allowing me to feel as though the result from this competitive game will be well below the set total.
