Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Air Force Falcons vs FAU Owls

The first ever meeting between the Air force Falcons and the Florida Atlantic Owls will take place on 9-8-2018 at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton, Florida, in week 2 college football action beginning at 2 pm EST.  The Owls were not flying high at all on the road against the Sooners in week 1 as they would suffer the 63-14 loss as they would not cover the spread (+19.5) while the over of 67 was surpassed.  The Falcons, on he other hand, would usher in a much better start to their season as they would blank Stony Brook at home with a 38-0 shellacking in Colorado Springs.  The Falcons would cash in on the spread (-15) while the under was the play with the total being set at 58.5 for the game.  Again, this will be the first meeting amongst these two squads, however, I am sure that each will be looking to get back on the field in which to obtain even more momentum, or, simply to get in the win column.

Air Force Falcons's Latest Performance :

The Falcons would have a totally different result in their opener as they would dominate Stony Brook at home by holding their offense to only 45 yards passing along with 30 yards rushing with 4 first downs.  Garrett Kuappilla would have 6 tackles on the day while Dailon Sutton and Lakota Wills would have 5 tackles each for the Falcons with Wills having a sack.  The Offense would put up only 29 yards passing, yet, would have 333 yards on the ground with 24 first downs as Arion Worthman would go 2 for 8 with no TD’s while rushing 11 times for 66 yards and a score.  Cole Fagan would have 18 rushes for 67 yards and a TD while Joseph Saucier would have 10 rushes for 71 yards to pace the rushing attack.  The receiving corps was led by Marcus Bennett who had a 25-yard catch.

FAU Owls's Latest Performance :

The Owls would only garner 192 passing yards and 132 rushing yards on the Oklahoma D in week one while obtaining 20 first downs total.  Chris Robison would go 15 for 26 for 157 yards while rushing for -8 yards on 6 carries.  Deandre Johnson would carry the ball 9 times for 39 yards while Kerrith White would have 3 carries for 15 yards and a TD in the defeat.  Javon Durante (4 rec, 52 yds) and Tavaris Harrison (4 rec, 57 yds) would lead the receiving corps against the stout OU defensive secondary.  The defense for FAU would allow 334 passing yards and 316 rushing yards to the Sooners with 26 first downs.  Nonetheless, Azeez Al-Shaair would have 3 tackles for the defensive unit while having a sack.  Korel Smith would also have a sack along with 3 tackles in the loss for the Owls.

How Air Force Falcons & FAU Owls Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

FAU is 0-1 ATS while the O/U is 1-0

Air Force is 1-0 ATS while the O/U is 0-1

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

The Falcons will look to take their momentum from week 1 on the road, however, the Owls will look to right the ship after their blowout loss to OU on the road in week 1.  They allowed over 300 yards to the Sooner offense, so, it would be no mystery that Air Force will try that defense in attempting to accomplish the same results in week 2.  The Air Force defense would be stout against Stony Brook in week 1 while the FAU defense would crumble from the start against a physical Oklahoma offense committed to the run.  In all, this will be a battle of wills between two teams looking to shore up defensive vulnerabilities while the other will be attempting to duplicate their success on the ground thus far.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Air Force +9.5

My reason for the pick :

While FAU may get a win in this instance at home, I happen to like the Falcons to cover the spread in this contest.  They illustrated much focus and consistency in week 1 and I expect his to carry on into Saturday’s game in Boca Raton.  They will certainly run into some obstacles as a young team in their first game on the road for 2018, however, with the running game going, it will possibly open things up to where they could sneak in a few passes simply to keep the Owl’s defense honest.  In all, look for the Falcons to play well in this game in which to cover the 9.5 points.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Over 66.5

My reason for the prediction :

I happen to think that the high-powered running game for the Falcons along with the loads of talent to which FAU possesses will allow this game to go over its set mark.  Though the Falcons defense was solid last weekend, FAU will definitely be a step up in competition.  Nonetheless, the Falcons will have their troubles in this matchup stopping the playmakers for the Owls while I see the Owls giving up some yards on the ground to this Air Force team that is sold out to the run.
