Iowa State Cyclones vs Iowa Hawkeyes
The Iowa State Cyclones, after having their week 1 matchup with South Dakota State postponed, will travel to Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City, Iowa, to battle their in-state rival Iowa Hawkeyes in week 2 college football action on 9-8-2018 beginning at 5 pm EST. In fact, Iowa has won the last 3 games against the Cyclones while cashing in on the spread in 2 of the last 3 matchups. In-Depth Analysis of each team:
The Hawkeyes will look to have yet another great showing at Kinnick Stadium, this time against the Cyclones. As stated, Iowa has dominated this series in recent years and certainly look to assert themselves early in this matchup, particularly in the trenches. They would rush for over 200 yards against their week 1 foe in Northern Illinois and will provide the Cyclones a huge dose of physicality as they will attempt to use their ground game in which to set the pace of the game once again. Look for this to be an exciting matchup as both teams will have much incentive to play well and to get a much-needed win for bragging rights.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Iowa Hawkeyes -4
My reason for the pick :
I will back Iowa to get the win in this contest. Besides, they have dominated this series lately and while I would expect the Cyclones to come out motivated in which to play, the home team will set the pace of this matchup early in establishing the run game while also taking control in the trenches on defense, which will surely take Iowa State out of the game. Of course, I do not feel as if this will be a blowout, yet, simply a win in which Iowa will cruise to victory in the 2nd half.
Totals Selection: Pick: Under 47
My reason for the prediction :
I happen to believe that this game will be yet another grind out affair where the defense will once again be the headliner as they will serve to neutralize the offenses. Of course, the Hawks will be looking for another dominate performance at home while the Cyclones will look to shore up their defense which allowed their rival 44 points in a win last year in their backyard. I all, look for the under to be the strong play in this matchup on Saturday.
