Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Colorado State Rams vs Florida Gators

The Colorado State Rams will travel for the first time to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, Florida, to battle the Florida Gators in week two college football action on Saturday beginning at 4 pm EST.  The Rams would pick up a win over their SEC opponent in week 2 in Arkansas by a 34-27 score as they would cash in on the spread as 14-point underdogs while the under was the play with the total being set at 70 points for the game.  The Gators would suffer a 27-16 home loss on last Saturday as they would not cash in on the spread as 13.5-point home favorites while the under was the play with the total being set at 52 points for the game.  Again, this will be the first matchup between these two teams, however, the Rams will be looking to maintain their momentum from their big win over the Razorbacks while the Gators look to get back into the win column in picking up an all-important home victory before taking to the road for a set of tough SEC division games in the coming weeks ahead.

Colorado State Rams's Latest Performance :

The Colorado State Rams would erase a 27-17 deficit in scoring 17 points in the final period capped off by an Izzy Matthews 1 -yard TD run that would seal the 34-27 victory at home for the Rams.  With KJ Carta Samuels throwing for 389 yards and 2 scores along with an interception in the contest, Colorado State was able to keep the Arkansas defense off balance due to the many playmakers that Carta Samuels will utilize such as Preston Wilson and Cameron Butler, who would combine for 161 yards total with Wilson scoring twice in the win.  They will have a challenge on their hands while going up against the 2nd ranked pass defense in the country in the Gators.  Florida, however, has struggled in rush defense as opponents are averaging 262.5 yards per game, a possible benefit for a Rams offense that has struggled to get going in their rush game in averaging only 86 yards per game, good for 121st in the nation.

Florida Gators 's Latest Performance :

The Gators would have all types of trouble while facing the Kentucky wildcats last weekend as they would be outscored 20-6 in the second half after taking a slim, 10-7 lead at the half.  Felipe Franks would perform well, however, in which to keep the Gators within striking distance as he would have 232 yards passing along with 2 TD’s, yet, after finding Freddie Swain for a 4-yard TD pass, they would not convert on a two-point conversion that would have tightened the lead to 21-18 in favor of the Wildcats.  The Gator defense would allow the offense to get the ball back late in the game, however, a fumble by the home team would spell their demise as Davonte Robinson would return the fumble 30-yards for the score to seal the victory for Kentucky.  Looking ahead, Florida sets it sights on a Colorado State team that played very well against its SEC foe in Arkansas in week 2. Furthermore, the offense for the Gators will also look to take advantage of a defense that ranks 124th in total yards allowed this season with 550 yards per game.  Franks and company will certainly be looking to improve upon their passing game which averages 236.5 yards passing per game, good for 66th nationally, against a defense that allows 298 yards to their opponents.  Also, Lamical Perine and Jordan Sacarlett will need to increase their production in the backfield against a defense that will also give up some yards on the ground (252 yards per game, 116th).  Florida really needs a win in this contest, and with the Rams giving up chunks of yardage to their opponents lately, they certainly have a decent chance of going above .500 before hitting the road in division play.

How Colorado State Rams & Florida Gators Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Florida is 1-1 ATS while the O/U is 1-1

Colorado State is 1-2 ATS while the O/U is 1-2

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

The Gators certainly let one get away last weekend versus a very resilient Kentucky team.  This week, they will welcome in the Colorado State Rams to the Swamp in hopes that they will be better able to contain Carta Samuels and his group of talented offensive weapons that would really do a job on SEC foe Arkansas the week prior.  In all, look for the Gators to attempt to get back to basics in stopping the run while also getting pressure on Carta Samuels in the pocket.  This will be an intriguing matchup as the Rams will have a chance to turn some heads due to the way that Florida has played lately.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Florida Gators -20

My reason for the pick :

While the win versus Arkansas was a momentum-booster for the Rams last week, the fact is that the Gators really need a win at home this weekend and will certainly be focused on doing that against a dangerous team in CSU.  As if Colorado State’s defense was not awful enough, they will be without defensive lineman Richard King (7 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 sack) in this game, which allows me to really think that they Gators will have a solid day on the offensive end.  Expect Carta-Samuels and company to keep up with the home team for a bit in which to make things interesting, however, the Gators will begin to pull away in the second half en route to a huge victory at the Swamp.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Over 55.5

My reason for the prediction :

While I expect Florida to really shred this porous defense for the Gators, it would be fair to reiterate that Florida has been awful in stopping the run thus far in 2018. With that being said, expect Colorado State to utilize Izzie Matthews along with Marcus McElroy in the running attack in which to soften up the Gator defense early on in hopes that it could allow for some opportunities to go downfield on a stout defensive secondary for Florida.  In all, both teams will put some points on the board, with most coming in the second half as the total will go above the 55.5 mark.

Betting trends for Florida Gators :

    • Under is 5-1 in Gators last 6 home games vs. a team with a losing road record
