Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
UCF Knights vs North Carolina Tarheels
The Knights of Central Florida will continue their stellar season on the road as they will travel to Keenan Memorial Stadium in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, for their first ever meeting versus the North Carolina Tarheels on Saturday at noon. UCF would pick up a 38-0 win over the South Carolina State bulldogs on last Saturday as they failed to cover the spread of 52 points while no total was set for this matchup. The UNC Tarheels continue to look for their first win of the year as they would fall to East Carolina on last Saturday by a 41-19 score to where they would not cash in on the spread of 15.5 points while the over was the play with the total being set at 59.5 points. In all, look for the Knights to continue to roll in week 3 while the Tarheels will look to garner some momentum against the 23rd ranked team in the nation while picking up a win at home.
UCF Knights's Latest Performance :
North Carolina has not been able to get a break thus far in the season as they would fall to 0-2 on the season at the hands of East Carolina as they would lose by a score of 41-19 last Saturday as their offense would gain 234 yards in the air and 161 rushing yards for the game while holding the ball for a total of only 24:56 minutes total. Furthermore, they would also go only 5 for 16 on 3rd downs with 3 fumbles in the matchup. Nathan Elliot would go 22 for 38 for 219 yards on the day while Antonio Williams (9 rushes, 96 yards) and Jordan Brown (13 rushes, 59 yards, TD) would pace the rushing attack. Anthony Ratliff-Williams would have 4 catches for 84 yards total for the Carolina passing attack that could never seem to get going in this contest. The defense for Carolina would give up 510 total yards to the Pirates as they would punish the middle of the UNC defense for 220 yards on the ground and almost 300 passing yards as well (290). Myles Wolfork (9 tackles) would lead the unit in stops while J.K Britt and Patrice Rene would each have 4 tackles in the loss for a defense that would allow the Pirates to convert 11 of 19 on 3rd down attempts, altogether.
North Carolina Tarheels 's Latest Performance :
Central Florida would cruise to victory last Saturday against an overmatched SDSU Bulldogs team that could only muster up 14 firs downs for a total of 258 yards (178 rushing/80 passing). Also, the Knights held the Bulldogs to 3 for 15 on 3rd down despite the Bulldogs holding the edge in possession time with 36:12 minutes for the game. Richie Grant would have 5 tackles to lead UCF’s defensive unit while Kalia Davis and Eriq Gilyard would each have 4 stops apiece. Richard Causey, Titus Davis, and Nevelle Clark would each have a sack in the win. The offense would be led by McKenzie Milton who would throw for 243 yards on 21 for 39 passing along with a TD in the victory; However, he would also throw 3 picks. Adrian Mills along with Greg McCrae would pace the rushing attack with a combined 13 rushes for 151 yards total with 3 TD’s while Gabriel Davis would have 113 yards on the receiving end with a TD. How UCF Knights & North Carolina Tarheels Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
UNC is 0-1-1 ATS while the O/U is 1-1
UCF is 1-1 ATS while the O/U is 1-1UN
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
UNC looks to have a long season this year while the Knights have shown much promise in the first few games of the season, albeit, against below average opponents. Nonetheless, UCF continues to win and will love to pick up yet another win on the road as they battle a reeling North Carolina squad at home in which to run their record to 3-0. Expect this to be an exciting matchup as UNC is desperate for a win while the Knights will look to exert their dominance over a team that they should handle easily. It will interesting to see exactly how dominant the road team will be after only hanging 38-points on a South Carolina State Bulldog squad at home in week 2.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Central Florida -14.5
My reason for the pick :
I will most certainly back Central Florida in this matchup. Of course, they were not able to cash in on the spread against a lowly SCSU team last Saturday and Milton certainly did not have one of his best outings in throwing 3 INT’s, the Knights remain a potentially great team with a young and talented head coach at the helm. With both teams never meeting each other on the field, it will be a slow start out for the gate for the visitors, however, they would soon begin to take control of this game en route to a victory to remain unbeaten. And while the Heels may indeed put up a fight early, they simply do not have the talent on either side of the ball to compete with an experienced team such as UCF for 4 quarters.
Totals Selection: Pick: Under 51.5
My reason for the prediction :
I am beginning to feel as if the Knights are not very concerned about blowing out their opponents. They would much rather wear down their opponent throughout the course of the game in which to pull out the victory. With that being said, I will take the under in this contest as UCF will continue to pound the ball on defenses in which to set up the run while the D will continue to remain aggressive while limiting teams to the bare minimum as it relates to first downs and, most importantly, scoring drives. In other words, UNC will not score much in this game while the Knights will score just enough to cruise in the 2nd half.
