Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Clemson Tigers vs Georgia Tech Yellowjackets

The 2nd ranked Clemson Tigers will travel to Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, for an ACC showdown in week four of the college football season to take on the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets on Saturday at 3:30 pm EST.  The Tigers are fresh off a 38-7 home win over the Georgia Southern Eagles last Saturday to where they would not cover the 31.5 point spread as home favorites with the total of 50 points not being surpassed.  On the other hand, the Yellowjackets would lose on the road versus the Pittsburgh Panthers by a 24-19 final as they were not able to cover the 3.5 point spread as underdogs while the under was the play with 54.5 points being set for the matchup.  These two teams would meet on October 28, 2017, where Clemson would get the 24-10 win at home as the spread was a push as they were 14 point favorites while the under of 49.5 points was not surpassed.  The home team is 6-1-1 in the last eight meetings amongst these two squads while the Tigers are 4-1-1 ATS in their last six meetings.  Furthermore, the under is 5-1-1 in the last seven meetings in Atlanta.

Clemson Tigers's Latest Performance :

The Tigers would go up 21-0 in the first half versus the Eagles of Georgia Southern while outscoring them 17-7 in the second half en route to a blowout victory last Saturday led by Travis Etiene with 16 rushes for 162 yards and two touchdowns.  Adam Choice and Tavien Feaster would combine for 17 rushes for 81 yards and two TD’s for the Tigers in the win.  The receiving corps was led by Justyn Ross with three catches for 103 yards and a TD for an offense that would put up 595 total yards for the game.  They will certainly look to 31st ranked rushing game into Atlanta to challenge a Yellowjacket rush defense that allows 117 yards per game while also utilizing their playmakers in a passing game that averages 287 yards per game versus a Georgia Tech defense that gives up 156 yards total to their opponents per game, good for 18th in the nation.  Kelly Bryant is probable for Clemson with a chest injury while Chris Martin is also probable with an upper body injury for Georgia Tech.

Georgia Tech Yellowjackets's Latest Performance :

The Yellowjackets would remain scoreless in the first half of their matchup versus the Pitt Panthers in week three, however, TeQuon Marshall (66 yards, INT) would score two touchdowns in the second half while Clifton Lynch would score on a three-yard run, yet, the Jackets would fail in a couple two point conversion and would suffer the loss.  Marshall would also rush for 103 yards while Jordan Mason (10 rushes, 94 yards) and Jerry Howard (8 rushes, 82 yards) would also lead the rushing attack for Georgia Tech in the loss.  The receiving corps was led by Brad Stewart with three receptions for 33 yards total.  The Yellowjackets will return home to face the Tigers and their 34th ranked run defense in hopes of gaining some momentum for their top ranked rushing attack.  The passing attack for the Yellowjackets are averaging 117 yards per game while the Tiger passing defense is allowing 179 yards per outing to their opponents while also allowing 13 points per game.  The Georgia Tech offense is currently averaging 32.7 points per contest.  Offensive lineman Andrew Marshall is probable for Saturday’s contest with a lower body injury while defensive tackles Richard Yeargin and Jordan Williams are both questionable for the Clemson defense.

How Clemson Tigers & Georgia Tech Yellowjackets Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Georgia Tech is 0-3 ATS while the O/U is 1-2

Clemson is 0-3 ATS while the O/U is 1-2

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

These two teams always seem to play each other well.  As stated, Clemson will be looking to exploit a run defense for the home team that has been stout both against the run and the pass while Georgia Tech will be hoping to crank up its running attack versus a Tiger defense ranked in the top 40 in the nation.  Also, Clemson is ranked 16th in the country in total yards allowed per game with 296 yards per outing while the Yellowjackets are averaging 510 yards per outing.  Look for this to be yet another close and competitive contest on Saturday.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Georgia Tech +16.5

My reason for the pick :

The fact is that the Tigers may indeed have the most talent, yet, the Yellowjackets have a powerful option attack that is ranked first in the nation and will look to establish themselves up front early versus the Tigers in which to take control of the game.  The problem is that the Tigers are stout up front as well and will look to play disciplined up front in which to prevent the home team from getting big plays.  In all, I will back the home team in this instance in that Georgia Tech has played well versus Clemson despite their SU record in recent outings.  With that being said, expect for the home team to keep things close until late, yet, they will cover the huge spread.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Over 52

My reason for the prediction :

With the top ranked rushing attack in the nation, the Yellowjackets will indeed score some points versus Clemson on Saturday, however, the Tigers will score some points as well as they will challenge both the defensive front as well as the secondary for the Yellowjackets in this contest.  I will back the over in this contest as it should really be a back and forth affair for some time before the Tigers can gain control in the second half as they begin to take control within the trenches.
