TCU Horned Frogs vs Texas Longhorns
The 17th ranked TCU Horned Frogs will travel to Darrel K Royal Field in Austin, Texas, to battle the Texas Longhorns on Saturday afternoon at 4:30 pm EST for week four Big 12 college football action. These two teams would last meet on November 4, 2017 as the Horned Frogs would claim the 24-7 home win as they would cover the spread as 7.5-point underdogs while the under was the play with the total being set at 45 points. TCU is 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings while the under has been the play in five of the last six games. Texas would get a huge home win over the USC Trojans last Saturday by a 37-14 score as they would cover the three points as home favorites while the over was the play with the total being set at 47 points. TCU would suffer the 40-28 home loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes in week three as they would cover as 12.5 home underdogs while the total of 59 points was surpassed.
TCU Horned Frogs 's Latest Performance :
The Buckeyes would be destroyed by Ohio State in week three; Yet, they would rack up 511 yards of offense during the game with Shawn Robinson throwing for 302 with one touchdown and two picks in the loss while Jalen Reagor (7 rec, 98 yds) led the receiging corps for TCU. Darius Anderson would pace the rushing attack with 154 yards on 12 carries for the day. The Horned Frogs will certainly find it hard to run on the 27th ranked Longhorns defense while they may find it much less difficult to locate some creases within a defense that is allowing their opponents 250 yards per game in the air. Furthermore, TCU is averaging over 41 points per game while the Longhorns will look to neutralize Robinson and the Horned Frog offense as they are allowing opponents only 23 points per game.
Texas Longhorns's Latest Performance :
The Trojans would score 14 straight points to begin the game, however, would be outscored 34-0 the rest of the way in a blowout loss to the Longhorns last weekend as Sam Ehlinger would throw for 233 yards and two touchdowns while Lil’Jordan Humphrey (4 rec, 84 yds, TD) and Collin Johnson (6 rec, 79 yds) would lead the receiving corps in the win. Tre Watson and Daniel Young would combine for 30 rushes for 129 yards total in the win. Texas will look to establish its running game which averages 181 yards per game along with 245 yards passing in 2018 while the TCU defense is allowing 132 yards per game on the ground while also giving up 185 yards in the air. On the other hand, the Longhorns offense is putting up 31 points per game compared to a TCU defense that is only allowing 19.7 per game. It will be interesting to see which team will exert themselves at the line of scrimmage first on Saturday while also witnessing which team will maintain that edge in the trenches over the course of the game.
How TCU Horned Frogs & Texas Longhorns Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
TCU is 2-1 ATS while the O/U is 2-1
Texas is 1-2 ATS while the O/U is 2-1
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
This will be yet another great measuring stick for the Longhorns as they would certainly pass their first test last week versus USC. On the other hand, with TCU matching up with a Texas team after such a pivotal win, they could very much make up for their huge loss to the Buckeyes in week three while gaining some ground within the rankings. In all, each team would certainly benefit with a win in this game; Nonetheless, one can bet that this game will be one where both teams will understand the gravity of the situation while playing as if it may be their last game of the season.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Texas +3
My reason for the pick :
While TCU will come out with a vengeance in this game in which to atone for their shellacking at home last weekend while unleashing their frustrations on Texas, they may be surprised to find that the Longhorns are much tougher than they had originally though. It is for this reason that I will certainly take the points with the home team in this matchup. Texas has not only been receiving great QB play thus far in the season while their defense has also played very solid versus the competition. Furthermore, with Texas bragging rights at stake expect the game to remain close and competitive throughout in what will be an interesting contest to which the Horns will cover while possibly win outright.
Totals Selection: Pick: Under 47.5
My reason for the prediction :
I will back the under in this contest as I see this as being a highly competitive contest where both teams will be looking to either build from recent momentum, or, atone for a horrible loss in the previous week. Also, there are bragging rights at stake in this contest as well so I would expect both defenses, which happens to be the cornerstone for each team, to be focused and motivated in controlling the trenches while neutralizing the rushing attack of their opponents. In all, the under will certainly be a strong play in this matchup on Saturday.
