Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Cincinnati Bearcats vs UConn Huskies

An American Athletic Association conference matchup between the Cincinnati Bearcats and the UConn Huskies will take place at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Connecticut, on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 pm EST.  In their last outing, the Bearcats would come out with the narrow home win over the Ohio Bobcats last Saturday by a 34-30 score as they would not cover the spread as 7-point home favorites while the over was the play with the total being set at 56 points for the game.  The Syracuse Orange would barely miss the 30.5 spread as home favorites as they picked up the 51-21 win over UConn while the under was the play as the total was set at 75 points for the game.   In their last outing, the Bearcats would escape with a slim 22-21 home win on November 25th of last year as they would not cover the 6.5 points as home favorites while the total would go under its set mark as the point total was set at 59 points for the game.  The under is 4-0 in the last four meetings amongst these two teams while the favorite is 6-2 ATS in their last eight meetings.  Finally, the Bearcats are 6-2 ATS int their last seven meetings.

Cincinnati Bearcats's Latest Performance :

The Bearcats got much more than they asked for versus the Bobcats of Ohio last weekend as the visitors would go up by a 24-7 score at the half as the defense for the Bearcats would give up two rushing touchdowns while also allowing a 12-yard touchdown pass from Nathan Rourke to Maleek Irons in the first half.  Nonetheless, the Tigers would come back in the second half as they outscored the Bobcats 27-6 and sealing the victory with a Michael Warren three-yard run with 3:24 minutes remaining in the game.  The Bearcats who allow 234 rushing yards to the Bobcats, yet, would force a fumble during the matchup while allowing them to convert only six for 16 third down conversions in the contest.  The rushing attack for Cincy is averaging 235 yards per game and will look to exploit the defense for UConn that is ranked 130th in points allowed per game with 55 points per game.

UConn Huskies's Latest Performance :

The Huskies would go down 31-10 at the half versus the Orange as the home team would ultimately cruise to victory as UConn would give up 636 total yards to the Orange including 341 yards on the ground led by Moe Neal with 116 yards on 13 rushes.  The rushing attack for UConn would put up 178 yards for the game with Kevin Mensah along with David Pindell having 76 yards apiece with the latter scoring a rushing touchdown.  Pindell would also throw for 151 along with a passing TD in the loss.  Tyler Davis would lead the receiving corps 44 yards on three receptions along with a touchdown catch.  The Huskie offense would fumble three time with two being recovered by the defense while they only converted three for 14 third down conversions.  UConn possess a decent running attack led by Mensah and Pindell as they are ranked 51st in the nation with 196 yards per game.  They will attempt to take advantage of this on Saturday; however, they will be facing a defense that is ranked in the top 35 in each defensive category in Cincinnati.

How Cincinnati Bearcats & UConn Huskies Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

UConn is 0-3-1 ATS while the O/U is 3-1

Cincinnati is 3-1 ATS while the O/U is 2-2

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

UConn gives away points to their opponents way too easily.  And with a Bearcats team that can indeed score points quickly, this game could very well get out of hand quickly on Saturday afternoon.  With the Huskies pass and rush defense ranking 127th and 129th respectfully, expect for the Bearcats offense that is ranked 26th in rushing along with being average in the passing game at 101st in the nation to find success in both areas.  The Bearcats average 36 points per game in 2018 and will certainly look to increase their average versus a horrible defense for UConn.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Cincinnati Bearcats -17

My reason for the pick :

I will back the Bearcats in this contest as I believe that they lost a bit of focus in their last matchup versus the Bobcats as they were pushed around quite a bit last Saturday.  With that being said, expect the focus to be there this weekend as they will be sure not to take the Huskies for granted.  I expect the road team to cover the spread in this matchup as they will stuff the running attack for the Huskies, thus leaving them without a reliable way in which to move the ball.  They will also take advantage of UConn’s inability to play consistency on the defensive side of the ball.  In all, take the Bearcats to play much better on the road this weekend against a UConn team that cannot stop a cold.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Under 60.5

My reason for the prediction :

While the Bearcats will certainly get some scores in this game, they will totally lock down the Huskies during this game as they have had trouble scoring all season long.  The problem is that I feel as though the Bearcats will rely on their running game to cruise in this matchup once they have obtained a comfortable lead.  In other words, I do not think they will run up the score in this instance.  With that being said, the under will be the strongest play for this matchup.
