Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

UCLA Bruins vs Colorado Buffaloes

A Pac 12 matchup between the UCLA Bruins and the undefeated Colorado Buffaloes will take place at Folsom Field in Boulder, Colorado, in week five college football action with the start time being at 9 pm EST on Friday night.  In their last outing, the Bruins would lose to the Fresno State Bulldogs by a 38-14 score at home as they would not cover the 2.5 points as underdogs while the total was a push.  The Colorado Buffaloes would roll over the New Hampshire Wildcats by a 45-14 score at home as they would not cover the spread as 37.5-point favorites while a total was not set for the matchup.  The last time these two teams would clash would be on September 30th of last year as UCLA would get the 27-23 home win as they would not cover the 7.5 points as home favorites while the under was the play with the total being set at 66.5 points for the game.  The underdog is 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings amongst these two squads while the road team is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings.  Furthermore, the Bruins are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings versus the Buffaloes.

UCLA Bruins's Latest Performance :

After a close first half to where the Bulldogs would take a 16-7 lead at the break, they outscored the Bruins 22-7 in the second half as Marcus McMaryion would score three rushing touchdowns to put the game out of reach as the Bruins would allow Fresno State 156 yards on the ground for the day while they would rush for 119 yards in the loss.  They were led by Dorian Thompson Riley who had 49 yards on eight rushes while the passing game would obtain 270 yards as Theo Howard led the receiving corps with 80 yards on four catches along with a TD.  Thompson Robinson threw for 151 yards total along with a TD and two picks in the loss for the Bruins while the offense would fumble three times with two being recovered by the road team.  UCLA would collect 270 total yards for the game while allowing 426 yards to the Bulldogs as they have had problems defending both the pass and the run this season in ranking 89th in total yards allowed for the season.

Colorado Buffaloes's Latest Performance :

Colorado would go up 28-0 at halftime on the Wildcats while cruising in the second half in a blowout win thanks to a Steven Montez touchdown pass to Laviska Shenault Jr, a Travon McMillian one-yard touchdown run, a Kyle Evans six yard touchdown run, along with a Davian Taylor 14 yards fumble recovery for a score.  In all, Colorado would rack up 491 yards total in the blowout along with 311 yards rushing led by McMillian with 162 yards total while the passing attack would put up 180 yards with Tony Brown leading the receiving corps with 80 yards on five receptions in the win.  Montez would also throw an interception in the game that was returned 15 yards for a score, however, he would be accurate for the game in going 14 of 19 in the contest, overall.  The Buffalos would allow only 43 yards on the ground for the game which would be a huge improvement over their 2018 average of 158 yards per game.  The defense would also recover two fumbles in the win while allowing the Wildcats to convert only four of 16 third down conversions in the win.

How UCLA Bruins & Colorado Buffaloes Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Colorado is 2-1 ATS while the O/U is 1-2

UCLA is 1-2 ATS while the O/U is 2-1

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

UCLA is simply not a good team this year as their offense ranks in the low 100’s in every major category, while their defense has not been able to stop the run in being ranked 86th in the nation.  Their pass defense is not much better as they are allowing 229 yards per game as well.  Also, they are allowing opponents to average 38 points per game.  This will play into the Buffaloes game plan as they are ranked 27th in the nation in passing with 290 yards per game while their running game is putting up 204 yards on their opponents on a weekly basis.  Furthermore Colorado is averaging 41 points per game and will look to increase this as they attempt to trample the Bruins in every was during this contest.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Colorado Buffaloes -10

My reason for the pick :

I will back the Buffaloes versus the Bruins this week as Colorado is a very dangerous team on offense in ranking 26th in scoring in the country.  In fact, with the way in which the Bruins have played this year, ten points seems to be a bit too little for a Colorado team that has played very well thus far in the season, so, backers may be getting the favorite at a huge discount.  Look for the Bruins to compete in this matchup, however, they will be outdone in the trenches as their offense simply cannot move the ball due to their lack of physicality against their competition.  In all, take the Buffaloes to cover at home on Saturday as the Bruins have not proven that they can be consistent on either side of the ball this year.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Over 60.5

My reason for the prediction :

With the inconsistencies of UCLA being exposed week after week, I will expect the Buffaloes to take advantage of the Bruins in both the passing along with rushing attack in this contest to outstanding results.  Again, the Buffaloes are in the top echelon of teams in offensive efficiency and will have yet another solid outing on Friday night.  In all, I will back the over in this matchup as I see the home team running away with this game from the start.

Betting trends for Colorado Buffaloes:

    • Under is 6-0 in Buffaloes last 6 Friday games
    • Buffaloes are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game.
