West Virginia Mountaineers's Latest Performance :

Texas Tech held the high-octane offense for Oklahoma State, that entered the game as the 9th ranked offense in total yards with 540 yards per game, to only 390 yards in their win last Saturday while allowing them to possess the ball for only 18:43 minutes for the game in a 44-17 home loss.  The offense for the Red Raiders benefited from the defensive effort as Texas Tech racked up 625 yards in total offense while having 228 yards on the ground, led by DeMarcus Felton with 121 yards along with two touchdowns, along with 397 yards passing with Alan Bowman going 35 for 46 with two touchdowns along with two picks in the game.  Antoine Wesley and Ja’Deion High would combine for 15 catches for 177 yards in the win to lead the receiving corps.  Felton and the offensive line for the Red Raiders would take control of this contest midway through the matchup as he scored two huge touchdowns in the second half to seal the huge road win for Texas Tech.

Texas Tech Red Raiders's Latest Performance :

Will Grier continued his stellar season in passing for 356 yards with five touchdown passes as West Virginia would rack up 466 total yards in their win versus Kansas State last Saturday.  The home team went up 21-0 at the end of the second quarter as Grier threw his third TD pass of the night to David Stills V to put the Mountaineers up comfortably at the half.  He would also find Stills V (10 rec, 73 yds, 3 TD’s) for a one-yard TD pass along with yet another one-yard pass that would put West Virginia up 35-3 at the midway point of the third quarter.  Marcus Simms led the receiving corps with 136 yards on five receptions with a TD in the win for the Mountaineers while the running game, which generated 110 yards total in the game was led by Kennedy McCoy with 73 yards.  The defense for West Virginia would hold the offense for the Wildcats to only 2.5 yards per rush in the game while its passing game would rack up 227 yards in the loss with Skylar Thompson throwing for only 145 yards total.

How West Virginia Mountaineers & Texas Tech Red Raiders Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

West Virginia is 2-0 ATS while the O/U is 1-1

Texas Tech is 2-1 ATS while the O/U is 3-0

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

This all important Big 12 matchup will feature two of the most prolific passing attacks in college football in West Virginia and Texas Tech.  While one could give the edge to the home team in this contest, it would be important not to count out the Mountaineers who would beat the Red Raiders in their last outing.  Also, with Grier and his many playmakers from the Mountaineer offense, look for WVU to continue to turn heads in this matchup as they are very resilient in their approach to playing both offense and defense.  The Red Raiders are equally as resilient and will be looking to score even more points with the ranking committee as Bowman and company will seek to have yet another productive outing on Saturday versus a quality opponent.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  West Virginia Mountaineers -3.5

My reason for the pick :

Both teams are ranked within the top 10 as it relates to total yards per game with the Red Raiders averaging 52 points per game; However, the Mountaineers are 18th in the nation in total defense in allowing only 318 yards per outing to their opponents.  Also, with West Virginia only giving up 12.3 points per game on defense, this will certainly be an interesting matchup.  Texas Tech gives up 28 points per game and ranked 106th in the country in total yards and will certainly have issues with Grier and West Virginia’s 3rd ranked passing attack that averages 373 yards in the air per contest.  In all, I will take the Mountaineers on the road in this matchup as the certainly have the better defense that could keep this Red Raider offense in check during pivotal points in the game.  Finally, the Mountaineers have won the last two games outright in Lubbock.  Please check back for the spread along with totals for this contest.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Under 77

My reason for the prediction :

I will back the under in this contest as I happen to believe that West Virginia possesses the talent and experience on defense to contain Bowman and the passing game for the Red Raiders.  Of course, this will be a tall order as Texas Tech will enter the matchup with loads of confidence after their performance on Saturday on the road; However, West Virginia is ranked in the top 50 in both pass and rush defense and will certainly give their offense opportunities to control the ball in this game.  Also, with Texas Tech ranking 110th in the nation in stopping the pass, one can expect the Mountaineers to roll once again on the road while containing the high-powered offense for Texas Tech on Saturday.
