Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Baylor Bears vs Oklahoma Sooners

A Big 12 showdown versus the Baylor Bears and the 5th ranked Oklahoma Sooners will take place at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman, Oklahoma, on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 pm EST.  In their last meeting against each other, the Sooners picked up the 49-41 road win on September 23, 2017, as the road team would get 625 yards total from their offense including 342 yards on the ground as they would cover the spread as 28 points underdogs while the over was the play with the total being set at 60.5 points for the game.  In their last outing, the Bears would pick up the 26-7 home win over the Kansas Jayhawks while the Sooners would pick up the 28-21 home win versus the Black Knights of Army as they would not cover the spread as 31-point home favorites while the total of 59.5 points was not surpassed.  Baylor is 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings versus the Sooners while the road team is 13-5 ATS in the last 18 meetings.  Finally, the Bears are 7-1 ATS in their last eight meetings in Oklahoma.

Baylor Bears's Latest Performance :

Baylor ran away with a win versus Kansas at home last Saturday as they would rack up 190 yards total for the game with JaMycal Hasty leading the charge with 60 yards on five carries while Charlie Brewer threw for 221 yards along with three touchdowns while also rushing for 57 yards on 12 attempts in the win.  Josh Fleeks along with Jalen Hurd combined for nine rushes for 125 yards in the game for an offense that accumulated 447 yards total while possessing the ball for 35:05 minutes.  Baylor will also look to exploit Oklahoma’s 65th raked pass defense as the Bears are putting up 310 yards per game on opponents.  And with Oklahoma battling injuries on the defensive line, Treece Lott and Marquise Overton should suit up for the matchup while cornerback Tre Brown is also probable on Saturday with an undisclosed injury.

Oklahoma Sooners's Latest Performance :

Oklahoma would need overtime to dispose of Army last Saturday as Kyler Murray would seal the victory with a 10-yard touchdown pass to CeeCee Lamb.  The Black Knights would rack up 339 yards on the ground while holding the ball for 44:41 minutes.  The Oklahoma defense would get two interceptions, however, allowed the Black Knights to convert 13 of 21 third down attempts for the game, overall.  Murray threw for only 165 yards for the day with three touchdowns along with an interception while Grant Calcaterra had 47 yards on two catches for the Sooners in the win.  The rushing attack collected 190 yards for the game with Trey Sermon having 119 yards in the game while Murray also had 71 yards in the win.  The Sooners 81st ranked rush defense can certainly look to be tried once again this week as Baylor will look to unleash its 66th ranked run game on a defense that looked vulnerable against Army.

How Baylor Bears & Oklahoma Sooners Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Baylor is 1-2-1 ATS while the O/U is 3-1

Oklahoma is 1-3 ATS while the O/U is 3-1

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Once again, we have a contest to where both teams are ranked in the top 50 in just about every offensive category along with defenses that are allowing teams to score in the low twenties per game.  Nonetheless, both passing attacks are a tad better than their rush which could certainly cause this game to trend towards the over.  Combine this with the fact that OU’s defensive line will be dealing with injury (see above), Baylor will be looking to light up the scoreboard even more.  In all, look for this matchup to be as interesting as ever in that the Sooners will look to stay unbeaten while atoning for the way in which they were pushed around in the trenches by Army while the Bears will look to win their second straight game after a setback at home in week three versus the Duke Blue Devils.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Baylor Bears -23.5

My reason for the pick :

While the Sooners have much to play for in this matchup, the Bears also have a ton to play for as well with the most important reason being pride.  The Sooners have had their issues with Baylor in the past and as the trends suggest, the Bears will certainly make this game intriguing due to the playmakers on the offensive side of the ball along with a defense that is stout both in the run and pass.  In all, I will back the road team in this matchup as they may be playing Oklahoma at a vulnerable time as their performance versus Army may have a psychological effect.

Totals Selection: Pick:   Over 68.5

My reason for the prediction :

The over sounds as if it will be the strong play in this contest as the Sooners are averaging 44 points per game while the Bears are putting up 36 points per outing.  Of course, the defenses will do its part during this game, however, with the playmakers that these offenses possess, it will be difficult to believe that the defensive units will somehow lock these high scoring offenses down for much of the game.  I will back the over in this contest as I certainly see a back and forth matchup to where both teams will score early and often, thus allowing the momentum to swing frequently.
