Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Florida State Seminoles vs Louisville Cardinals

Cardinal Stadium in Louisville, Kentucky, will be the site of an ACC matchup between the Florida State Seminoles and the Louisville Cardinals on Saturday with game time being at 3:30 pm EST.  In their last meeting, the Cardinals were successful on a 34-yard field goal to get the 31-28 road win on October 21st of last year to sneak out with the win.  They would cover the spread as 7-point underdogs while the over was the play as the total was set at 58 points for the game.  In their last outing, the Cardinals suffered the 27-3 loss versus the Virginia Cavaliers on the road while the Seminoles picked up a 37-19 home win over the Northern Illinois Huskies last Saturday as they would cover the spread as 10 point home favorites while the over was the play with the total being set at 45 points for the game.  The over has been the play in the last four meetings amongst these two teams.

Florida State Seminoles's Latest Performance :

Florida State would get back on track in whipping up on Northern Illinois last Saturday as they would go up 20-7 at the half while outscoring the Huskies 17-12 in the second half for the win.  The Noles had arguably their best game from an offensive standpoint for the year as they racked up 121 rushing yards led by Cam Akers with 64 yards on 22 rushes along with a TD while the passing attack was led by Keith Gavin along with Nyquan Murray who combined for 11 catches for 178 yards in the victory.  Deondre Francois passed for 352 yards along with two touchdown passes and one interception.  Though they got the win, FSU would still have four turnovers for the game including three lost fumbles.  And while their passing attack has been the most potent for their offense, they will run into a challenge versus Louisville as they are ranked 49th in the country in allowing 198 yards per outing to their opponents.

Louisville Cardinals 's Latest Performance :

Louisville would only get a field goal from Blaton Creque in their last outing versus the Virginia Cavaliers as they would suffer the 27-3 road loss.  While the offense would only accumulate 214 total yards along with 66 yards on the ground, the defense would allow 204 rushing yards while also giving up 197 passing yards.  Though the defense would get a pick in the game, their offense would have two interceptions along with a fumble in the contest while holding the ball for only 26:05 minutes.  Jawon Pass threw for 113 yards along with an interception in the loss while Malik Cunningham had 26 rush yards on ten carries.  Finally, Dez Fitzpatrick had five receptions for 62 yards for the Cardinals.  Louisville has struggled thus far in the year and are only averaging 17 points per game, good for only 125th in the nation while also averaging only 287 yards total per game.  They now will face an FSU team that allowed 24 points per game while giving up 377 yards per game to their opponents (69th).

How Florida State Seminoles & Louisville Cardinals Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Louisville is 0-4 ATS while the O/U is 1-3

FSU is 1-3 ATS while the O/U is 2-2

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

This game will feature two teams that have really struggled this season.  The Noles do not look in sync on offense while the Cardinals are also looking just as confused on both sides of the ball.  The Seminoles, in all, are averaging 21 points per game while the Cardinals are putting up 17 points on their opponents per outing.  Yet, while their offense has not done much of anything, the rush defense of FSU has held their opponents to only 98 yards per game.  On the other hand, the rush defense for Louisville has not been as successful, yet, their pass defense is ranked 49th in the country in allowing just 198 yards per game.  In all, both teams will be looking to control the trenches in this game to gain some type of consistency on the offensive end.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Louisville Cardinals +6.5

My reason for the pick :

With the way the Seminoles have play thus far in the season, 6.5 points is simply too much to be laid on a Florida State team that is prone to committing runovers along with a bevy of mental errors.  It is for this reason that I will back the Cardinals in this game in that while their offense has struggled as well, they have a slightly better defense that could neutralize the FSU passing attack, thus allowing them to get after Akers in the backfield.  In all, look for this to be a competitive matchup and one where the Cardinals may indeed come out with the victory despite being underdogs.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Under 47

My reason for the prediction :

As stated, the Seminoles have defended the run much better than they have the pass; However, the Cardinals have fared much better in defending the pass as they have with their opponents rushing attack.  Again, both offenses have been dismal this season, which allows me to feel as if the under will indeed be the strong play in this instance.  Look for this contest to be one that is back and forth to where neither team will be able to get much going throughout.
