Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

UL-Monroe Warhawks vs Georgia State Panthers

A Sun Belt conference matchup will take place at Georgia State Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, as the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks will meet the Georgia State Panthers beginning at 2 pm EST on Saturday.  In their last outing, the Warhawks fell at home to the Troy Trojans by a 35-28 score last Saturday as they failed to cover the 4.5 points as home underdogs while the total of 55 points was surpassed.  The Panthers would also fall at the hands of Western Michigan by a 34-15 score on the road as they would also not cover the spread as 8.5 home dogs while the under was the play with the total being set at 61 points for the game.  In their last outing on October 14, 2017, Georgia State would rack up 670 yards of total offense in a 47-37 road win as they would cover the spread as 3.5 underdogs while the over was the play with the total being set at 57 points for the game.

UL-Monroe Warhawks's Latest Performance :

Louisiana Monroe simply could not recover from a 35-7 halftime deficit to the Troy Trojans last Saturday however, outscored Troy 20-0 in the second half thanks to a touchdown run by Kayin White along with two touchdown passes from Caleb Evans to tighten the lead.  Nonetheless, the Warhawks dropped their second straight contest while putting up 490 total yards with 200 yards on the ground led by Evans who would rack up 101 yards on 15 rushes along with passing for 290 yards, two TD’ s, and an interception in the home loss.  Xavier Brown led the receiving corps with 59 yards on two catches.  The Warhawks defense, allowing 138 yards per game to their opponents on the ground, gave up 140 yards to the Trojans while its 126th ranked pass defense was scorched once again by allowing 329 yards to Troy in the loss.

Georgia State Panthers 's Latest Performance :

A Barry Brown 36-yard field goal along with two rushing touchdowns by Dan Ellington is all the scoring Georgia State had versus the Broncos of Western Michigan last Saturday as their defense allowed the home team a total of only 343 yards for the game with 58 of those being on the ground.  Ellington threw for 285 yards along with an interception while also rushing for 35 yards to lead the attack for the Panthers.  Penny Hart led the receiving corps with five catches for 91 yards in the loss as the offense fumbled three time while losing two of those to the Bronco defense while possessing the ball for only 25:43 minutes in the game.  Their defense would allow Western Michigan 528 total yards along with 294 yards in the rushing game along with three touchdowns in the air by Jon Wassink.  The Panther defense is raked very low in each defensive statistical category this year while their offense is predicated on their passing attack which is ranked 81st in the nation with 213 yards per game.  They are, nonetheless, ranked 117th in the country in averaging only 17 points per game.  They may indeed find additional ways to score with the Warhawks allowing 34 points per outing to their opponents in 2018.

How UL-Monroe Warhawks & Georgia State Panthers Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Georgia State is 1-2 ATS while the O/U is 2-1

Louisiana-Monroe is 1-2 ATS while the O/U is 0-3

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

In all, expect the Panthers to increase their production within the passing attack this week as ULM has struggled to defend the pass this year.  Also, with the Warhawks allowing 34 points per game to their opponents this year, expect Georgia State to have a decent day on offense.  However, the defense for the Panthers is struggling as well in allowing 283 yards in the air along with 251 yards on the ground to their opponents in 2018.  With rushing being the strength of the Warhawk offense, expect them to take full advantage of this lack of toughness within the trenches in which to take control of this game on Saturday in hopes of picking up a conference win.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Louisiana Monroe Warhawks +7.5

My reason for the pick :

With neither team being able to stop opponents thus far in the season, I would not feel comfortable at all picking the Panthers with the points in this matchup.  I will, however, ride with the Warhawks in this contest as they will likely have a great night on the ground versus a Panthers team that have struggled defending the run, as stated.  Of course, the Panthers will attempt to take advantage of a Warhawk defensive secondary that is ranked 126th in the country in allowing 330 pass yards per game, yet, look for the road team to remain in this game throughout its duration due to matching up with a dismal defense.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Over 62

My reason for the prediction :

Again, with two defenses that has had trouble stopping both the run and the pass, I will back the over to be the strongest play in this instance.  Furthermore, with Georgia State looking to exploit the Warhawks in their pass defense along with ULM looking to pound the ball on an inconsistent defensive front for the Panthers, look for both teams to have success as they each allow well over 30 points to their opponents per game.
